I've heard of a christian group that goes to soldiers funerals to protest the war. Bad enough, but I don't know of any that declare they are glad the soldiers are dead.

Never heard of such a deplorable thing.
If that ever did happen, I imagine the soldiers attending the funeral would see to it that these protesters disappeared from the face of the Earth.

Yeah, they've been on the news a lot lately. Deplorable. Those so called "Christians" are going straight to their own hell (if there was such a thing). I'm an atheist, but I have morals and a concience, for pete's sake. This is the kind of sick group that religions inspire (not dissing all of you that are religious - just saying there are always bizarre groups like this that do terrible things "in the name of god"). Makes me sick.

I have heard of them .I can't remember the groups name but lawmakers have tried to make it illegal. The ACLU has taken their side in this controversy. They stand across the road and yell loud enough to disrupt the funeral. These people are not true Christians , God does not expect us to stand here and take beatings from any group or any person meaning us bodily harm.

Of course! the Westboro ministries church. It's made up of Fred Phelps' congregation (About 80 percent of which are all related by blood and marriage...) This is the group responsible for God Hates Fags. com and it's their belief that somehow God's punishment for the U.S.'s approval of homosexual lifestyles has led to the deaths of all of these soldiers... 8-|

Yes...sure have, but please don't call them Christians. This is a "church" comprised of approx. 100 members, 80 of whom are in the same family. Their whole argument is that because the U.S. military has the "don't ask, dont tell" policy for gays, that God has cursed the whole nation. These jerks celebrate a soldiers death as being the "wrath of God". I'm afraid I'd have to show them the "wrath of veteran" if they ever pulled their crap around me.

Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church. They're trying to get people violent against them so that they can sue. Their gist is that God killed the soldiers because of gays in America. He's an Ubertroll and is best ignored.

yes I have heard about them. They have "demonstrated" here in Wisc. I believe it has something to do with anti-abortion groups...or some crazy, fanatical christian group. Either way...this America...and they are entitled to their opinion...no matter how sick and twisted it is. It IS a little ironic that they can do these protests because of the US military protecting our "freedoms"...and that includes the freedom of speech and right to assembly. hmmmm

That's a family who call themselves Baptists and if you have just decided to paint all Christians with that brush , then you're just another little left wing twinkie with no real grasp of current events.
