How would you make the best cup of tea? My friend and me are in debate over whether the tea bag should go first or last. And when should the milk or sugar be added?

Since the advent of tea-bags, I place the tea-bag in the mug, add boiling water, let it brew, add sugar and milk.

Before then, I used to heat the tea-pot with boiling water. Rinse it out. Add two or three teaspoons of loose tea, add boiling water and let it brew for three or four minutes. Strain into a cup or mug, add sugar and milk. The latter was much better than the former..............

well first the best way to make a good cup of tea is finding a lose leaf tea and steeping it for about 1 1/2 to 2 min depending on the tea. You should then add your sugar and last add the milk. If all you have is tea bags then they go in first and then add the hot water sugar and milk

Boil the tea in a kettle.
Pour the boiling water into a tea pot with the tea bags in it - let it sit for a minute or two to brew.
Add sugar to your cup and pour the tea.
Then you add the milk.

start with COLD water, bring to a rapid boil and let water boil for a few minutes,
add tea bag to a warmed tea pot and then add the boiling water and let steep for at least 5 minutes (or longer depending on how strong you like it)
add sugar (optional) into a tea cup and pour in the hot tea and then add milk or cream until desired color

Milk first, then water. Sugar can be added any time. Most importantly, tea bag should be added LAST.

I looked this up in 'Tea, Tea and more Tea' by I.M.Teadrinker. He clearly states that the tea bag should added last for the best infusion.

To my mind, Earl Grey is the best cup of tea, with a smidge of sugar and a dab of milk. MMmmmmmm. It matters not which order, water or bag first.
