Heartworm preventative: once every one month, usually chewable.
Flea and tick preventative: once every one month.
Heartworm test: Once every one year.
Bordatello (prevents kennel cough): once every 6-12 months, depending on how often she's out in public or around other dogs.
Rabies: Once every 1-3 years, depending on the dosage your vet uses.
Distemper Combo: Once every 1-3 years, depending on the dosage your vet uses.
These are the basics.

I work with a vet that is very honest and doesn't give vaccines unless absolutely necessary. Your dog shuold get rabies and dhlpp (distemper). If your dog is groomed or boarded while you are on vacation then he should get a kennel cough vaccine. Also, if you live in an area that has lots of ticks and has a high incidence of lyme disease then i would get the lyme vaccine. But you can ask your vet that question. For monthly pills or meds, he should be on Heartworm preventative and frontline to protect him against heartworm, fleas, and ticks. Oh I forgot, also get your dog tested every 2 years for heartworm/lyme/erlichia, only if he is on heartgard year round. If not he should be tested yearly. Hope this helps!

Heartworm Prevention- once a month
Flea and Tick Prevention- once a month or less depending on if you have flea or tick problems
Heartworm test annually, and depending on the test your Dr uses may screen for Lyme disease and Ehrlichia
Rabies- every 1-3 years depending on your areas Rabies laws. the dose used by your vet is the same either way
Distemper, parvo, hepatitis, parinfluenza- a combo shot given annually, however this also depends on you Drs vaccine protocol. We dont give this shot to anything over 10 years old
Bordetella (kennel cough)- once a year, recommended if your dog is around other dogs.........the groomer, doggie day care, boarding.
Lyme vaccine-recommended if you live in a high risk area
hope this helps and wasnt terribly confusing.

Rabies depends on the laws in your state, either 1-3 years.
Distemper combo, every other year.
Lymes and flea/tick prevention, if it is a problem in your area and with your dogs lifestyle.
Heartworm, monthly pill, test every other year if given on schedule, otherwise every year.
Bordatella, waste of money IMO. The only time my dogs ever got kennel cough was when I actually gave the shot, and I have been going to dog shows for 30 years. It is highly unlikely kennel cough will hurt your dog, although it sounds terrible.

the county only needs for the dog to get the annual rabie shot. and now they have one that you can get every three years instead of every year.
the monthly pill (mine is a chewable) is the heart worm medicine. which is like a treat for them.
i also give my doggies a multi-vitamin every day because it makes them feel better and they look healthier and their coat is shinner. plus one of my dogs has a skin disorder, so once every three days i got to give a benadryl for dogs for the allergies.
besides that i know the vets are alwys telling you you need this shot for this, this shot for that, but as long as you keep an eye on your dog, and they seem to be healthy, then i would not give them that much. i think over medicating the animal is just as bad as not medicating them.

Shots at 8, 12, 16 weeks, 1 year and 2 years...that is for the Parvo/combo shot, you don't need it after 2. After 2, just get your rabies as needed.
Over vaccinating leads to immune problems. My vet said after 2, they don't need it anymore. Vets make a fortune on vaccines, so they push them

Rabies should be giving once every three years and
DHLPPCV- (1 shot that includes distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo, parainfluenza, and corona virus) every year.
They should be wormed twice a year. Heart worm prevention I do only in the mosquito season.

What a foul and tragic tale. It really sounds to me that the guy changed into waiting and searching for an opportune second to do what he wanted, which changed into eliminate the dogs. How unhappy that there are human beings in this international with such malicious hate of their hearts. I in quite some situations do what you suggested this woman did. when I meet my acquaintances in our "dogs strolling crew" on the park on Saturday mornings, i respect dropping my lead and letting my dogs rush ahead some metres to greet my acquaintances and their pooches! I also love even as their dogs run as a lot as me in a tail wagging frenzy. Saturday morning is their exciting day, their play day, it continually starts off with that little ritual, so wonderful... and that i'll in no way imagine of it extremely a similar way back. the considered one in all our dogs being shot for that's not something short of undesirable. i imagine bringing this to the interest of the media is a ought to as is getting a legal professional. This mans moves favor to be highlighted and an get mutually set. human beings can't take the regulation into their own hands for no reason, policeman or not. except for the very incontrovertible reality that what he did to the dogs changed into inexcusable, his moves were mostly fairly risky! Bullets can ricochet, there have been 2 human beings on that highway that ought to were injured or killed had he missed the dogs. What an fool! i am hoping they strip him of his pastime and lock him up, because that's the position he belongs. the very incontrovertible reality that he enable his actual emotions about the dogs be general, lengthy before the incident is actual a blessing in cover, (i am hoping they have witnesses to this) because it will make it more beneficial accessible i ought to imagine to instruct it turned right into a planned act, fairly than him with the flexibility to assert there have been in no way any troublesome feeling earlier to the incident and it changed into in basic terms self defence. @Divapom - that tale of yours made me sense unwell to my center!

Here in Scotland we do not use .22 bullets for dog shots like that previous smatalek poster suggested.
