Do you think it is about time that Priests be allowed to marry in the Christian faith? Personally if they can get some action in bed with their wives, maybe they'll leave the little kids alone and stop molesting them.

Surely Priests that abuse, mistreat and rape children are going straight to hell!! If Joe Schmoe does that, the religious people say that he will go to hell (providing he doesn’t repent but that is a WHOLE OTHER STORY THERE)

But do you say the same for the Priest that you see every Sunday… the priest that married you… the priest that baptized your children….?

Taking innocence, rape and manipulation - surely a "man of god" knows better and deserves to go to hell

Just a side note:
1) I'm not religious - do not believe in God at all
2) Never been baptized nor ever set foot in a church - unless is was a wedding
3) I know someone whose sister was in this situation and can't help but be ADAMENT about it - not angry - there is a difference.

It disgusts me reading these stories or hearing them on the news!

They preach to everyone else saying gods life is better than the one we are living to get god to forgive us for the sins we have done to our selves and others and all along they are being hypocrites and sinning themselves in the worst possible way!

I think any man who rapes or sexual assaults needs to have there bits cut off sent to jail and let all the guys in there know that he raped children!!!
And see how he likes it!
I think that is a good enough version of hell!

You must be confused. Christian pastors do marry. It's the Catholics that don't. And the only reason the Catholic church started to ask priests not to marry was so that they wouldn't have to take care of their wives and children once the priest died. That's the truth. Priests marrying or not marrying has nothing to do with God, but with the Catholic's church desire not to be financially responsible for widows and children. Great example by the way. It's been a great decision (sarcasm intended). Maybe if the Catholics changed their minds they could salvage the catholic church and bring it back to what God intended the church to be. But they won't. They are just like the pharasees from Jesus' time now.

Hi night star,

First of all i think your description of priests not be allowed to marry- is a Catholic tradition.

Christian pastors do get married. They believe as God created Eve for Adam (that it is not good for a man to be alone). In ministry Pastors benefit from the support and wisdom that a partner provides, and it also helps them (IE: a wife can help a pastor counsel woman).

In terms of those priests who molest boys- it's a terrible atrocity- because especially someone that people trust to be men of God- to violate someone is despicable and they will have a terrible day of judgment for the mistreatment of those individuals as well as misrepresenting God.

But in terms of priests being prohibited to marry- that is a Catholic Tradition that is no where found in the Bible. I'm a Christian youth pastor and i can't wait till i get married.

Hope that helps,

Nickster

Even so heinous a crime as child molestation doesn't deserve eternal torment. That's not a just punishment. Those who prey on children should certainly be punished, but for all eternity? Fortunately, there is no such place as Hell. Human justice, with all its flaws, is the only justice that exists, and those who harm children should be made to pay a very high price for their crimes.

As to the other part... Many Christian priests and ministers can and do marry. For those denominations that don't allow women to be ministers and don't allow priests to marry--I think that's a mistake, but I leave such decisions to them. Besides, I'm completely unconvinced that celibacy, in itself, "causes" priests to be pedophiles. There is ample evidence that married people molest children, too. It's horrible, but true.

1. If anyone, even a priest repents he will not go to hell.

2. Being married won't stop a pedophile from molesting children. Many of those who do are married and molest thier own kids.

3. You should work on your anger issue. Perform a root cause analysis and find out why you are so angry. Where you yourself molested by a priest?

Be well,
Billy!

I think what she is trying to express is the fact that wouldn't a man of God understand the wrongness of their actions. And if they preach about sins, wouldn't they know what they were doing IS a sin? Whether Catholic, Christians, Clowns or Janitors what they are doing is wrong and should have their "bits" hacked off with a rusty dull knife! (LOL b85abydoll!!!)

I agree with you Night Star - they should be allowed married! Cause if what the other poster said is true - just imagine all the other stuff that is swept up under the rug. Makes me sick

Munya Carr - Why the harsh words? She is against the mistreatment of children - hardly a "get down off your cross" mentality. I think based on her attitude she would rather chop the cross down than bow down to it

(1) I'd support allowing priests to marry.

(2) The problem with the child molestation is NOT the few priests who were molestors, but the large number of Bishops who gave aid and comfort to the molestors thereby allowing far more child rapes. Thus the real solution to that problem would not be priestly marriage, but modifying the episcopal organization of the Church.

I may nhot be a Christian, but really, what does this question have to do with your Spirituallity? When you get down to it, it is a pervision of anything- if You are a God-Fearing Person, it is a pervision of the gift he gaves us- Bodies. It is an Ugly thing to do.

For me, it is a pervisionof everything. It is m y belief that we were created in the image of both a god and goddess who were able to create life through sex as well. And the fact that we are created intheir image, and that we can commit the same act of love that they did, makes it a special thing. But to take someone of any age unwillingly is a perversion, and desereves the highest punishment out there, because it is the worst crime of all.

Killing someone is alot easier- they don't have to live what has been done to them, they don't have to live with the humiliation and the pain and the memories.

Nobody should forgive a vicar or priest if he sexually abused your young son or daughter.

We hear so much these days of religious leaders (vicars, priests etc) molesting children, especially innocent young boys, one wonders how much is still swept under the carpet to keep up the illusion “God is good” or “the Bible is the truth” or you name it.

The truth is, there are far too many child abusers in privileged religious positions, whether it’s sexual or physical abuse. The percentage of religious abusers is just way higher than the normal per capita ratio.

I think priests should be allowed to marry -. An unnatural lifestyle (ie imposed lifelong celibacy) gives rise to unnatural urges and actions. If there is a God he gave us the means to not only reproduce but to enjoy the activity...it seems unlikely he did not want us to use it!
