Buy a dictionary, then choose one word a week. Learn the definition and use it in a sentence. Some say do this with one word a day, but I would not be able to remember Monday's word on Friday, so I say 1 word per week.

Simply by reading and looking up words you do not recognize the meaning of in a dictionary as you read. Also try using a Thesaurus to use different words that have the same meaning when you write.

Start in the dictionary. Pick one new word every few days. Use each word in it's proper context in sentences repeatedly thru out the day and learn how to spell it.

Read a lot, and when you don't understand a word, look it up in the dictionary instead of skipping it.

Go to the link below, subscribe to the list, read it daily, and use each word, eventually you might find yourself using words you never used before naturally.

rent movies and watch them with the subtitles in a different language, or put the audio to a different language and put on the english subtitles so you know what's going on.
it's essential that you practice everyday!

Read lots of books. Choose titles you like, so you can follow through.
