This sort of reminds me of the man who criticized Jesus, because of the perfume and oil that was used on Him when it could have been sold for the poor instead.

That man was Judas Iscariot -- the betrayer of Jesus.

Jesus the baby was born in very humble surroundings, but the glorified Jesus -- in the real-presence form of the Eucharist -- should reside in a nicer dwelling.

By the way, very few churches in the world are "full of gold." I've been to hundreds of Catholic churches in several countries, and most of them are rather simple buildings.

As for putting money on the plate or in the basket -- everything and everyone has bills to pay, and the Church is no exception.

Not to mention, there's something in the Bible about the laborer being worth his wages, or something to that effect.

I don't understand what the toilet has to do with the subject but I assure you that not all churches are rich and ornate buildings. Some of them are small groups of men and women who come together in their homes to pray for the Grace they need at the time. Others groups rent space in a store front development. Humm Sounds like they end up paying taxes on that property. You don't know alot about THE Church now do you....Jim

A church is made beautiful by the donations of the people in order to honor the Lord. Putting money on the plate keeps the church's bills paid and helps the poor in the area.

The mind of an atheist is really interesting.Heres some facts you might want to know:1)Religious people dont need a big church.Your looking at the megachurches, why not the local church? 2)We give 10% of what we earn for gods house (the church)to expand.Churches do pay bills you know. And yes you can pray to god in the bathroom.

Actually.....Yeah......God is with you all the time. And please don't generalize all churches. You can have church where ever people are gathered. In fact, I have ministered just outside of bars. I have ministered in parks and in churches. So, the "need" is not justified. But the money thing, you are technically getting fed the word of God. You must be on of those people who don't believe in paying for your food when you go out to eat. The pastor has a job to do, and he should rightly be paid for the service he provides.

"Who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God something to be grasped. Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, coming in human likeness; 5 and found human in appearance, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross." The king of the universe became man and humbled himself he deserves the best, isn't this fit for a king.

that is retarded on so many levels.

they need big churches if there are a lot of members in the church. they all need somewhere to sit. it is important to fellowship with other people of your religion, not just sit on the toilet by yourself. they put money on a plate to pay for the church's expenses.

I agree with the money thing. I don't like it. Jesus wasn't wealthy. We betray him when we build bid churches and all the stuff...it's just to show to others.God does not want us to worship him surrounded with gold. But in secret in our room. Well I'm not American so I don't understand the big church-money thing. And those who use prizes like houses or cars to attract people in their churches just make me sick.
