Touching ear to the pillow 3 times before going to sleep. Anwering machine must be left on an odd number. Must kiss 3 times not 2. and sometimes needs to count an odd number of steps to the door before leaving a room.

No its not me, its someone I know. And really like. I want to help. He does seem to have trouble in social situations and was diagnosed with adult ADHD - but i disagree and want to get him off the ritalin.

I have a nephew who is Autistic and he has some OCD traits. But this defiantly sounds like OCD.
He can get help with good counseling and the right combination of drugs but Ritalin isn't one of them.

Sounds more like OCD to me. Autism is far more complex that just having things a certain way in order to be comfortable and usually involves some level of impairment when it comes to communication.

These sorts of ritualistic behavior patterns are usually associated with OCD but can cross over into autism as well. I would suggest that this person be screened by a clinical psychologist who can better differentiate.

The Autism Spectrum varies wildly. OCD is part of the spectrum. And this is OCD to the #th level.

It's where the frontal lobe part of the brain isn't communicating to well with the deeper parts of your brain. It could be that the chemical in your brain that helps communication (Serotonin) is low. Serotonin treatments and cognitive-psychological treatments may help. See your doctor for tests concerning your compulsive disorder.

OCD, Zoloft will help with that but it will take up to 2 months for it to work.

Yes repetitive motions are symptoms of autism, they also need structured life styles. they also prefer inanimate objects as opposed to say human faces.

its ocd defintly altho autisim can have simeler symtoms in the mild cases and can be detected in early childhood not when he/she is an adult so i think its ocd

Definately OCD! They have prescription medicines now that can help alleviate symptoms.
