The Bible is really just a fake story, perhaps a bit like the Loch Ness monster tales.

When we pass on information to another (example: story, joke, description of something etc) by the time these details are passed on by word of mouth, interpreted by others, and then written down, the final details are typically quite different than the original information.

Since the Bible is just a man-made story passed down over many years in various forms, the chance of it being accurate in any shape or form is remote.

There are people who swear blind that the Loch Ness monster exists regardless of all the evidence to the contrary, but a fence post bobbing up and down in the Loch does the trick. Similarly there are people who swear blind that God exists and the Bible is fact, yet there isn’t one blind bit of evidence to support such theories.

Biblical tales are really no different than Loch Ness monster tales, just the era is different.

Because the Bible prophecies have come true, at least the ones whose time has passed. Several of them involving hundreds of years came true to the exact day. See the prophecy regarding the Ottoman Empire in Revelation as the best example of this.

The simplest prophecies to understand are those regarding the four great empires, Babylon, Persia, Greece, and Rome; as well as the prophecy that said the Roman Empire would never be reunited, and that many people would try and fail.

For the Bible to predict things that would happen hundreds of years after it was written it more than enough proof for a rational person as myself.

But if it isn't for you, the teachings of the Bible are solid, and the proverbs are proven keys to success in life. That's the other reason it "doesn't go away." Because it works, in our lives, today.

The New Testament thoroughly advocates that one take responsibility for one's life.

As for whether or not the Bible is a fairy tale, are you arguing that the pharaohs discussed therein are fairy-tale characters, even though they are historically documented? Are you suggesting that Saint Paul--who wrote letters that were found--is a fairy-tale creature? So far as I am aware, Hansel and Gretel did not leave behind them documents proving their existence. Whether or not what Paul of Tarsus, e.g., said was TRUE or not has no bearing on the fact that he EXISTED.

I know of no fairy tales that are based on people who are historically documented as having lived.

There are historical documents that Jesus lived. You may not believe him to be the savior of humankind, but if you don't believe that he existed, then you are disbelieving history (defined, in part, as "written documents of what people perceived as having had happened").

Learn the obvious differences between fairy tales and history, why don'tcha? It's not that complex.

er.. how can you say that the bible is not about taking responsibility of your own life? Did you by chance read it? And if you did and decided it is a fairy tale, dont you think it may be a fairy tale for you? and not for some others? Respect, My friend, it should work both ways. Dont you think so?

If we are allowed to live our lives by fairy tale standards, then I firmly believe that Jack did go up the bean stalk, Cinderella existed and The Lord Of the Rings really happened. If christians are allowed to live by these standards then why can't the rest of us do it also?

These rational people understand that sources of truth can come through more than just the scientific method and therefore do not limit themselves to the knowledge that can only be gained through that. They see that the bible has many gospel truths, and other things which are purely symbolic, but mostly they have applied the principles into their lives, and have found through their own personal trial and error that these principles truly do make them happy.

best wishes

I have a B.A. and an M.A. and am quite "rational" and I assure you that there is much historical and archaeological evidence to support that the Bible is true. Beyond that I have tested and tried many principles in the Bible and have found them to be true in practice. For example, you reap what you sow. This is true not only in farming, but in life. It is also true that if you draw near to God, He will draw near to you.

I very much doubt that you have actually read or tried very many principles in the Bible for yourself, which isn't very "rational" at all.

Rational people DON'T say that. Non-rationality is a distinguishing feature of those who believe in the faith-based Abrahamic death cults of desert monotheism (Judaism, Christianity, Islam). In some people, though, it seems that this non-rationality is somehow compartmentalized. They are able to function in a seemingly rational manner in the pursuit of their ordinary day-to-day activities... yet when it comes to considering matters relating to existence and reality, they go off into the realm of faries and demons and sky-daddies. Go figure.

There are 2 rationales being stated right here. One is finite and blind to religious fact. the different is religious and is conscious the two facets of the concern. it truly is obtrusive which you're on the finite part and characteristic under no circumstances had a private revelation of God on your existence to wake you as much as the religious opportunities that a procedures go beyond the finite recommendations and flow into the area of infinity. no longer all preachers are in black robes. Strike one! no longer all preaching is hypothesis. Strike 2! there's no severe Chritianity. Strike 3! you're out! Hell is reserved for people who settle on they might particularly believe any lie till now acknowledging their sin and repenting of it till now a holy God. the only individual who condemns every person to Hell is God, and he basically does that once dying eliminates the opportunity of truthful repentance, forgiveness and salvation by using His Son who died for all who might humble themselves sufficient to the touch the guts of God and acquire the forgiveness and eternal existence he provides. in case you provide me a thumbs down you needless to say coach that what I mentioned above is genuine of you, and which you do no longer recognize God and characteristic under no circumstances gained a private revelation from him. This places you in with a set which will believe in him after dying considering you will possibly desire to die at any 2nd and locate out i'm telling you the certainty. Your awakening would be undesirable for you because it truly is been for multitudes who've rejected Christ. you do no longer might desire to flow that course, however the alternative is as much as you! The Bible says; "it truly is a aggravating subject to fall into the palms of the living God."

How can the dead see life? How can the dreaming see reality? You are speaking from a place of darkness, without the Light of God. All you know is human logic, that will never help you understand the spiritual issues of Life. It's not a myth. Sorry you can't understand that. Maybe some day, God willing.
