CTR is the collections end of the Information Warfare Community. Very Secret Squirrel stuff, most of it will not be available on a public website. Requires a Top Secret Security clearance, which means at the very least you must be a Citizen, and you cannot have any immediate family members who are government officials of a foreign govenrment, even a friendly one.
Therefore, you won't be able to get much in the way of a descruiption of what they do day to day other than what is available on about.com

A CTR is a cryptologist technician. I'm not sure what the R stands for though. They keep changing the rates around. A lot of what they do is classified. I think CTR was merged with CTA, CTM, CTO to form the new CTN rate. It's funny, I was a CTT and I couldn't tell you what my job actually entailed.
Tonto's answer applies to ALL CT ratings. But it's a good gist of what we do. As a CTT, I did a lot of the same things as a CTA, CTO, and CTM.

I was a CTA for four years (93-97) and one of my best friends was a CTR, Cryptologic Technician Collection. The job requires a TS SCI clearance, so I hope you haven't done anything you shouldn't have! If you like computers and dark spaces, this is the job for you. Accelerate Your Life! Go Navy, Beat Army!

Well I skimmed your answers and they all sound good. Especially the one that quoted this:

It really sounds like he knows what he's talking about. But frankly, if you ask me... if you're going to cut and paste your answer... you should at least have the courtesy to post where you copied it from
