Nepilim is Hebrew for Giant. As the KJ translators were not certain if it was literally giants, or was the name of a tribe, they choose to leave the word untranslated.
It appears from Genesis 6:1-2 (also 2 Peter 2 and Jude) that the fallen angels (also called demons) began to "sleep" with human women. The results were children that were not human, but a mixture of human and demon genes. These were the Nepilims. This is what caused God to bring about the Great Flood.
This destruction of all living beings, except Noah and his family, was because the human gene pool had gotten so polluted that Noah and his family were the only genetically pure humans left. It answers the question of how a loving God could destroy everyone human in the world including childrens and babies. The answer is - he didn't. He saved all the humans in the world, and destory only those mixted creatures that were no longer human.
And the fallen angels were chained in hell so that no further physical intercourse was possible between them and the human race.

NEPHILIM
(Neph´i·lim) [Fellers; Those Who Cause [Others] to Fall Down].
This is a transliteration of the Hebrew word nephi·lim´, plural in its three occurrences in the Bible. (Ge 6:4; Nu 13:33 [twice]) It evidently stems from the causative form of the Hebrew verb na·phal´ (fall) as found, for example, in 2 Kings 3:19; 19:7.
The Bible account describing Jehovah’s displeasure with men in the days of Noah before the Flood relates that “the sons of the true God” took for themselves wives from among the attractive daughters of men. It then mentions the presence of “Nephilim,” saying: “The Nephilim proved to be in the earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of the true God continued to have relations with the daughters of men and they bore sons to them, they were the mighty ones [Heb., hag·gib·bo·rim´] who were of old, the men of fame.”—Ge 6:1-4.
Identity. Bible commentators, considering verse 4, have offered several suggestions as to the identity of these Nephilim. Some have thought that the derivation of the name indicates that the Nephilim had fallen from heaven, that is, that they were ‘fallen angels’ who mated with women to produce “mighty ones . . . the men of fame.” Other scholars, focusing their attention particularly on the statement “and also after that” (vs 4), have said the Nephilim were not the ‘fallen angels’ or the “mighty ones,” since the Nephilim “proved to be in the earth in those days” before the sons of God had relations with women. These latter scholars hold the opinion that the Nephilim were simply wicked men like Cain—robbers, bullies, and tyrants who roamed the earth until they were destroyed by the Flood. Still another group, taking into consideration the context of verse 4, conclude that the Nephilim were not themselves angels, but were the hybrid offspring resulting from materialized angels having intercourse with the daughters of men.

The Christian disciple Jude wrote about them when he mentioned “the angels that did not keep their original position but forsook their own proper dwelling place.” (Jude 6) Why did they come to the earth? What wrong desire did Satan put in their heart to get them to leave the fine positions they had in heaven?
The Bible lets us know when it says: “The sons of the true God began to notice the daughters of men, that they were good-looking; and they went taking wives for themselves, namely, all whom they chose.” (Genesis 6:2) Yes, the angels put on fleshly bodies, and they came to earth to have sexual relations with beautiful women. But such love affairs were wrong for angels. This was an act of disobedience. The Bible indicates that what they did was just as wrong as the homosexual acts of the people of Sodom and Gomorrah. (Jude 6, 7) What resulted?
Well, babies were born to these angels and their wives. But the babies were different. They kept growing bigger until they became giants, wicked giants. The Bible calls them “mighty ones who were of old, the men of fame.” These giants tried to force everyone to be bad as they were. As a result, the Bible says that “the badness of man was abundant in the earth and every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only bad all the time.” (Genesis 6:4, 5) So Jehovah brought the Flood. The giants, or “Nephilim,” and all the wicked people were drowned. But what happened to the angels that had come to earth?
They did not drown. They put aside their fleshly bodies and returned to heaven as spirit persons. But they were not allowed to become part of God’s organization of holy angels again.
Since the time of the Flood, God has not permitted these demon angels to take on fleshly bodies, so they cannot directly satisfy their unnatural sexual desires. Yet they can still exercise dangerous power over men and women.

They are the children of fallen angels who were kicked out of heaven before the creation of the earth. It says there that they thought the women were beautiful and married them and had children. These children were giants, half-angel, half human. After God sent the flood, the nepilim were cast down to the abyss as men perished, and are awaiting their judgement during Judgement Day. a side note: in the Bible, every angel whose gender is mentioned is specifically male. We know of no female angels.

specific. God´s common angels don´t marry. yet those weren't common angels. fairly the alternative, they have been angels who rebelled against God, materialized human bodies and got here to have intercourse kin with the ladies right here. we are able to work out that the Bible connects the depraved angels directly to Noah´s time: 2 Peter 2+4, 5: genuinely if God did no longer carry back from punishing the angels that sinned, yet, by utilising throwing them into Tar´ta·rus, introduced them to pits of dense darkness to be reserved for judgment; 5 and he did no longer carry back from punishing an historic international, yet stored Noah, a preacher of righteousness, secure with seven others while he further a deluge upon a international of ungodly human beings. After Jesus grow to be resurrected, he proceeded to evangelise to those angels who're in a reformatory-like state noted as Tartarus: a million Peter 3:18-20: Why, even Christ died as quickly as consistently bearing directly to sins, a righteous [guy or woman] for unrighteous ones, that he might lead YOU to God, he being positioned to demise interior the flesh, yet being made alive interior the spirit. 19 in this [state] additionally he went his way and preached to the spirits in reformatory, 20 who had as quickly as been disobedient while the endurance of God grow to be waiting in Noah’s days, mutually as the ark grow to be being built, wherein some human beings, it is, 8 souls, have been carried properly interior the direction of the water. because of the fact of their disobedience, they´re reserved for the judgment of the finished day: Jude 6: 6 And the angels that did no longer save their unique place yet forsook their very very own acceptable residing place he has reserved with eternal bonds below dense darkness for the judgment of the finished day.

The word nephilim is loosely translated as giants or titans in some translations of the Bible, and is left as nephilim in others.
Some people say that nephilim is a Hebrew word which means fallen ones.

Giants and according to the bible that they were the result of angels mating with human females. Which is rather strange since the bible also says that angels are spirits.
