He did tend to take things a bit too seriously.

I'm an agnostic myself, even so, I have studied a bit about the life of Jesus. First, whether you believe he was god or not, he must have been an amazing person. Jesus was a social genius, he was compassionate, understanding, and stood up for the poor. He believed in the poor, the downtrodden, the underdog. Jesus understood that material things were worthless and so he traveled around owning nothing, but giving hope, care, and direction for those that needed it most. This was unheard of in this time, a time when the majority of people in the world where in poverty and many sick with disease, religious leaders and politicians feared them. In thinking of his social intelligence he is comparable to the teachings of Buddha and even a bit like the movement led by Gandhi. If you compare his teaching with the rest of the Bible there is a stark contrast. It is a shame so many Christians today do not embrace his compassion, his lack of judgment (one of his best friends was a prostitute), his care for the poor, his belief in the people, and instead focus on his death and rebirth.

Nope .. he was a Jewish dissident somewhat speaking against Rome but most particularly speaking out against the corruption in the Jewish leadership. His "movement" was not doing very well so he knowingly decided to enter Jerusalem in such a manner that made himself impossible to ignore being fully aware that he was probably going to be martyred. In the end, his movement was important to the fall of Rome although it never did reform Judaism, instead it became its own religion.

Your answer is in the Bible.
But I will inform you as I understand it.
Jesus was sent here for one reason and that reason is because we are human and have many faults. He made it so we can ask forgiveness of our sins and have our wrong doings be forgiven and forgotten.

I knew that you were lying when you wrote me that email weeks back objecting to my use of the word "retard," claiming that you had two retarded children and were especially sensitive to the word.
Liar.
"Retarded" is spelled this way, not your special way ("retarted").
