You don't have to cut your hair at all. I have always had long hair and never been told to cut it. So no. you can keep your long hair as long as when it's up it's withing regulations. Meaning it cannot touch the collar of your uniform and it has to have a neatly appearance.

Women in the military DO NOT have to shave their heads. I should know I am in the military. In the Army, women must have their hair in a neat bun if their hair exceeds the length of their collar in uniform.

No, men don't have to shave their heads anymore either. For men hair must be kept short, women can have long hair, but it must be kept up when in uniform. The regulations used to be that it could not hang below the bottom of the collar (the back) my hair was really long just wore it in a bun when in uniform

LOL No, that's not true. However, if she does really want to join, she might want to cut her hair short. It's best for BCT if she has an easy to manage hair cut. She'll be sweating, on her back in dirt, climbing, running and various other activities. She won't have alot of time to get ready in the morning. There's also a regulation on how much can "hang down" and so on.

Good luck to her!!

no, thats not true at all. i was in the army and had long hair. if i would have had to cut my hair i wouldnt have joined. actually the opposite is true, women must keep a feminine appearance, they are not allowed to shave their head short like a man. they can have short hair but not a buzzed look.

Women are permitted longer hair, but not nearly as long as most women wear their hair. The environment of training is such that you will want it short, very short. I expect that the barbers won't shave the female recruits as close as they do the protesting male recruits (to the scalp), but when you get all sweaty, muddy, greasy, filthy you will find that very short hair is infinitely more practical.

No females don't have to shave their heads... they just cut hair short. But they can always grow it back out.

No, they don't have to shave their heads. In fact, the guys don't really have to, either. They just have to get their hair cut so it meets regulation.

Women are allowed to keep their hair A LOT longer than men, but it is still pretty short (has to be kept above the ear.) Small sacrifice to serve....

No, they don't shave their heads. They do have to have their hair off the collar, but not shaved.
