We yawn because our bodies are lacking oxygen. They are contagious because when your brain sees someone else that "needs more oxygen" it says "Hey - I need more oxygen too!"

Just thinking about it makes me yawn...

yea its lack of oxygen

cuz when ur tired and ur still up late at night ur body yawns because it needs more oxygen so u can stay awake.

You are not getting enough oxygen to your brain, or it can also be that it helps you warm up when your are cold. Interesting huh!
