While I understand your concern, this is really a no brainer. Red means stop and as such, what makes you so different that you have to debate that? The system is there for everyone's safety, however frustrating that can be. However, if the temporary traffic lights have failed or got stuck, as they do, you have to make a decision to proceed slowly and safely ahead. But proceeding just because you are impatient is wrong .... how would you feel if you had sped through on a green and some jerk is coming the other way, creating what could be an impasse? You would be insisting that you were in the right and he was in the wrong ... thats the way it is.

Stop Because I Failed My First Driving Test Because I Ran A Red Light.
And These Lights Sometimes Have Camera Fitted.

Stop!
That's why I've had a clean licence and no claims for 33 years, all my driving years:-)
Then I was run over by a lorry on a zebra crossing, and left in coma and hospitalised for a year aged 8, and hit by a yank twenty years later... who crossed my road when, he he thought he could make a junction... and I hit him at 60+ pmh and again... I almost died while he walked away... yankee car so empty side I hit!
Bad drivers usually kill and injure others... seldom themselves!
And my ex pa-in-law, took a chance at a junction, crossed a duel carriage way... killed his wife instantly when a car hit them, injured all other passengers in car (four of them, all elderly like him and his wife) and all but he died within two years and at 88 he's still driving and guess who avoids his car whenever she sees it?
Too right!
Slowwwwwww down and thinkkkkkkkkk!

stop, wait a minute, go If caught, use the reasonable person defense e.g A reasonable person would assume that a light that didn't change in 60 seconds was broken.
If there are no junctions , why the light "?

Go through them and you could be caught by the cameras that many have on the top. They are there to be obeyed just as traffic lights, and you get the same penalties for going through them.

go if its as clear as you say.its like when i see the other side of the roadworks..when the oncoming stops i go...only if i know there is only the one other light to worry about..what s the point of waiting for green in this situation? the oncoming has stopped you can see that. speed up traffic flow ,go before green..it works only to speed up traffic flow..if the numpty behind you follows you and so on.. follow my leader..10 cars have gone through when the green appears....

It depends whether or not I know the area well and the time of day as well.
Most times I would wait because I am a bit of a coward.

Red means STOP.
As for everybody who said go, I hope none of you will be driving where me or my family have to travel.
