try meditating on your respiration.
concentrate your attention on following your incoming and outgoing breath without becoming distracted by sounds/thoughts. each time you do become distracted and lost track of your breath then return to watching the flow of your breath and when you become distracted again go back to your breath and so on.
eventually your mind will settle and become still.
good luck.

The fears you are talking about come from the fact that you are anxious over your studies and looking for a seemingly legitimate excuse to not do as well as you would like to. Otherwise you would not have mentioned the two together...
Just do the best you can, screw the competition factor, work hard, party less and relax... Deal with one issue and the other will cease to exist because you have eliminated its reason for being.
and don't watch horro movies when you are supposed to be studying... Especially not the exorcisim of Emily Rose...
Duh! You people are just so predictable sometimes...

both sound like avoidance methods. i'm not terrified of lack of life because that's inevitable, so there isn't any aspect fearing it. i'm not chuffed that i'll die, i do not favor to die, yet some day, i'll, so as that's in basic terms something that I settle for. i do not circumvent wondering about it although, or attempt to inform myself that Heaven and Hell are something else...Heaven and Hell do not exist, so why ought to i imagine about them in any respect? idk, it shouldn't extremely take the type of attempt you look making

Hi. Have you tried earplugs and a night light? Try meditating, just "clearing your mind" -- that may help calm your psyche when you try to rest. Deep breathing, in and out -- that helps me a lot. Good luck!
