Give him an example that he can respect. Treat him as a human being - an adult, even. If he hits you, show him that violence is below you and not the way to act. Make him your friend.

Hi! I had the same problem with my little sister. In my case it turned out to be some sort of lack of attention; she expected me to be more of an older brother than I was. Maybe you could give your little brother more the attention that you would expect from an older sister. After that you just need a lot of patience. If he's young though you probably can't help it- young boys just have a lot of energy to spend. In short: behave like the mature one and be very very patient....

You need to have a talk with your mother and tell her how you feel about what he's doing to you. He needs to be taught that boys don't hit girls.
Really, if you try to fight back, it will only make it worse because then it starts a record of physical abuse in the household as everyone gets older.
Perhaps reasoning with him with a piece of candy will make him calm down.

By being a good role model and doing for him what you'd want an older brother to do for you.By changing your behavior positively you'll help him change his, naturally. Helping him when he needs it. Doing goofy stuff that makes him laugh. Showing him how to do stuff. Saving him 'the best piece' or bigger piece of food and not eating it all your self. Just think of all ways you can make him smile!

What ever you do, don't respond to him in the manner he wants like giving him attention or acting annoyed when he troubles you...this is exactly what he wants (i should know...i do the same thing) Try to show compassion when your parents are around like hug him or talk politely...this will make your parents change their idea of how about feel about him...and then when He does something your parents will blame him and not you...But truthfully I think this is your brothers way of showing affection...

In order to be respected by someone who is younger than
you're, you have to do something extra ordinary to earn it and
not to demand for it. In your case, you got to impress upon your
younger brother that you're his role model to follow, be a friend
who he can confide personal feelings to and give him love and
brotherly advice on personal matters.
Once, he sees through you that you're his trusted and loving
care senior, I'm sure he will respect you always. Thus, you will
really earn it by this way. Do you understand?

You'll gain no one's respect by hitting them. He's your brother, it's called sibling rivalry, it's a normal process of growing up with brothers and sisters.

People will respect you when you treat them with respect. You may have a right to be respected, but most people won't give it to you when you demand it.
I find that most people who demand respect from me, don't really respect themselves.
