In the Church they are both growing together until the "harvest."

The "wheat" are the ones that are living 100% for Christ. The "tares" are the ones playing church. They are there on Sunday with there church personality. Then when they leave they put there worldly personality back on and deal with things in there own way. Not the way Christ tells us how to live. On the day of the "harvest" the "wheat" will be harvested and the "tares" will be burned.

It has about the same meaning as "separating the wheat from the chaff" or "separating the sheep from the goats." (See the link below for a non-spiritual definition of "tares.") Esther, above, gives a good answer.

Spiritually speaking, 'wheat' is for angels with power-assisted wings and 'tares' is that spongy thing they put on their slippers so they don't make too much noise when strolling around heaven.

Wheat are the believers. Tares are non-believers or people who are fakes. That is, those who profess to believe but in reality do not.

Useful and not useful.

Wheat - People who do genuine good from the Lord.
Tares - People who fake doing good or do evil acts and inwardly care nothing for the Lord or the neighbor.
