What I want to know is, why is it called sacrifice when he was going to heaven anyways?
If I knew by giving my life up that I would be saving a large part of humanity AND I would go to eternal paradise afterwards, I would probably do it.

You are just as much a part of God as Jesus ever was.
God is not in the universe She is the universe.
She created the universe from the only thing that She had available, Herself.
You and the most distant star from you in the universe both exist within the idea of God.
This is a difficult concept for most people to comprehend because they have been taught nonsense about God. Like the idea that God lives far away on a cloud called heaven. God is not a raindrop. Raindrops live in clouds Not God. This is foolishness.
Jesus told us that the kingdom of God is within us. This is true because each and every one of us exist as a part of God. We live and move within our loving source. There is no moment or possibility that we can ever be apart from her.
Forget the silly stories that you have been told about a distant God that lives in the clouds. Look around you. Everything that you see is God. The idea of sacrifice is nonsense.
Love and blessings.

This goes back to what is dogma and doctrine and what is scripture.
FAQ: What books are in the Word and what are apocrypha?
"The books of the Word are all those which have the internal sense; but those books which have not the internal sense, are not the Word. The books of the Word, in the Old Testament, are the five Books of Moses, the Book of Joshua, the Book of Judges, the two Books of Samuel, the two Books of Kings, the Psalms of David, the Prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi: and in the New Testament, the four Evangelists, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John; and the Apocalypse. The rest have not the internal sense" (Arcana Coelestia n. 10325 or Heavenly Doctrine n. 266).
Simple sayings do not save but belief in God and living a good life according to the ten commandments is what saves.

Being God Jesus is omnipresent. Being so He is and will always be present in all places. He is the only Person that could actually hang on the cross forever paying an eternal sacrifice for sin. For anyone else the pain and torture would have ended at death for Christ it will always be present to Him. If you can't see it christians see this as terrible thing to endure..Jim

NO, Wait. I see your point , but it sounds like you are arguing with yourself.
Jesus WAS God, in the flesh. We will NEVER know the meaning of some things till we get to Heaven.
I think PEOPLE sacrificed Jesus.
All I know, is that He died for ME and you, on the cross that day, for every sin we ever committed, are committing now, and EVER WILL commit.
He's in my heart and He changed me!
We are to live like that, giving ourselves to others, and not ourselves, and to be like Christ. Sacrificing our time, our money, our talents God gave us--true sacrifice.

There is no other purity but God.
You couldn't do it. Angels couldn't do it.
Only God could do it.
Behold the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
You have to know what was done in the old testament by the Jews to understand the lamb statement.
The blood of bulls and goats couldn't do it.
Only the pure and precious blood of God could do it.

Yup. And... Yup.
Jesus was a man. Still part of the Trinity, but, still a man.
Blood sacrifice and all that. (Spirits got no blood, see...)

He was God in the FLESH, (Key word). He gave up His to take our place for our punishment for our sins. Even tho He lived His life without ever sinning, He took the blame for our sins. He paid a dear price, in suffering, pain, torture, and life itself. He endured a beating with a whip of sharp hooks, to the point that He was no longer recognizable as a human being. He willingly laid Himself upon that cross, and let them drive those nails into His hands, and feet, and suffered the excruciating death of the Crucifixion on that cross,...so pay the penalties for our sins, so we could have the choice to be with Him forever . That's how much He loves each one of us. He paid my sin debt, and I choose to accept His love and forgiveness for my sin, and to live my life dedicated to Him, and choose Him as my Savior. I don't know of anyone else who has ever offered to do even a tenth as much for us, just out of love for the human race. And, even to this day, there are those who want to degrade His name.
