I would not think that your Mom should make fun of your weight. Are you overweight? Is she very weight conscious and uncomfortable with the fact that she thinks that you are overweight? This just seems cruel to me, if you are struggling with weight issues your Mom and other family members should be supportive of you. If you Mom has had to work very hard to keep her weight down, she may have struggled with her weight when she was your age, and it is bringing back uncomfortable memories for her. She is picking on you, because she is uncomfortable thinking about the fact that you may have to struggle with weight issues, just as she has. You should try to sit down with her and talk about this, tell her that it really hurts you and you need to talk about it, and need her help and insight. Good luck to you both!

I don't think it is appropriate to make fun of your kid.

A better decision would be to get her kid a gym pass or a few workout videos, educate the kid on proper nutrition and portion sizes, and maybe try to make it fun to lose weight - try to work out together, something like that.

No, but I am sure she is not trying to hurt you, she is trying to make sure you know she thinks its a problem... she wants the best for you and thinks that if she makes fun and tries to pass it off as a small thing in a joke that she will get her point across without hurting your feelings. If she is being to mean or you don't agree you should talk to her about it, I am sure she doesn't want to hurt you, she wants to help!

NO your mother should never make fun of you.

She should be the one that supports you and helps you find healthy choices for your lifestyle.
She is the one you run to for comfort when other people make fun of you.

I am assuming since you ask it is bothering you... maybe you should mention it to her, then the to of you can work out a sensible plan of action.

No, never.

That being said, a nice, sensible talk about healthy eating habits and lifestyle changes is perfectly acceptable.
