I had to have hip surgery last year. I was dealing with everything pretty well up until they were getting ready to take me into the OR when Ihad a pretty severe panic attack. I was given IV Atavan and I calmed down IMMEDIALTY. Atavan can also act as a short term memory blocker.

Good medication. It may tend to make you sleepy till your body gets adjusted. Generic is lorazapam. It is in the same family of drugs as Valium.
