My neighbor is a big gossiper, I do not like gossip and do not and will not participate in. I respect my nieghbors and mind my own bussiness. I realize when people get off of work they want their own space. I bought a little convertable (classic 1976) and parked it in the driveway in my space. I was driving my other vehicle to work. When I got home she and her man friend had pushed my car over into the grass. They taken it out of gear and push it to another place. We both have plenty of parking and I do not park in someone elses space. What should I do. Is it illeagal to enter a car that does not belong to you and move it. I am not happy about this.

I politly ask them if they had moved it and they told me they did. They did not offer any explanation.

You need to call the police and file a complaint. Yes it is illegal to enter your car and to move it.

This isn't a normal situation and if you don't follow up you are going to be seen as a push over.

Firstly -are you quite sure that these people did this? Be sure of the facts before you follow up.
Secondly, do you feel able to speak to them in a non-confrontational way, to verify that they did move it and to ask them why? If you don't feel able to do it, who can do it for you? Residents' association? Lawyer? Police? Boyfriend, brother, father?

Although I can't think of any good reason for them to move it (onto grass too, where it could have been stuck!) they may think otherwise and have a reason to give you which might or might not make you feel better.

Has there been any damage to the car? Look closely at the paintwork, panels and lights. Did they push it or tow it? if they caused even the slightest scratch then you have a very good case for complaint.

Communicate to them that you are very unhappy and will treat any similar mistreatment of your property very seriously. Don't shout or raise your voice. (A lawyer might charge you ten bucks to write a warning letter) Don't swear and, if they swear at you ask them not to -you are being calm and not swearing so they should try to do the same.

If, as you say, this was your space, which presumably you pay for in some way, why did they think they could move the car? You have the moral high ground if it is YOUR space.

Lastly, maybe they did you a favour by showing you how vulnerable your car was. If some ned had thrown an old burger into it, or emptied a litter bin into it, you would be even more unhappy. Keep it locked and the roof up at all times. I used to have a handbrake/gear stick lock which would have made this manouver impossible. Next time someone might just winch it onto a flat bed lorry and steal it!

Good Luck!

Sounds like a catty, low thing to do.

The fact the guy was there and backed her up makes him sound like a low life too. Anybody with morals is going to think twice about something like that.

The fact they had the audicity to do that means they have no respect for you or your property and probably - for nobody else. That it took two of them to go up against a woman - says a lot.

( You're not in California, are you? Lot of those kinds here. )

You wouldn't be lying about it publicly if you were on here. I'd put in a misdemeanor complaint. Check your door after you leave and leave little things arond that'll tell you if anybody's been in your place while you're gone.

They're big into that in California as well.

REPORT THEM it is illegall (at least in ohio) to enter anothers property or move it without permission, but be sure it was them and not some local kids playin a joke also about the being nosy>>i have found that most nosy people back off quick when you confront them! IE get right in her face within 2 inches and say look b i t c h my business is just that my business so keep your nose where it belongs in your business before i cut it off and hand it to you! that should work if not report her/him for voyuerism! just tell the police that they are constantly watching your apt and spreading rumors and looking in your windows and unless you live in a real big city where cops have real crimes to solve they should be happy to help!

You likely could file a grievance with the police, but it would probably be more productive to talk to your neighbour.

Remain calm while letting her know that this is inappropriate behaviour, and you will not tolerate it in the future.

Be clear and do NOT lose your cool. As long as you remain calm and clear she will have no reason to become defencive and you will be able to resolve your issue without confrontation.

If your neighbour loses her cool, don't let this be an excuse to lose yours. Be the bigger person and walk away. It won't happen again. By you keeping your composure, she'll get it.

Wow! Remember, what ever you do you will have to live with the consequences for a long time. It was wrong, but why did they move your car. It is illegal to tamper with anothers property, unless they are doing something as a good Samaritan. Talk to your super or landlord on the QT. Be careful, we don't want anything happening to the ragtop while your earning cheese.

I would contact the police and ask them what to do NEXT time. Ask the police what type of charges there would be. Continue parking where you want and if anyone moves it again, call the police.

Your convertible sounds darling. I am so jealous.

I would call the police (though not via 911, to be sure) and if an officer comes out to the house, I would ask him/her to have a word with the neighbor on the subject of minding one's own business.

I would call the police & make a report. The very least they will do is come talk to your nieghbors. This will let them know you will push back & maybe they will give you some respect.

Are you sure it was the neighbors who moved your car? Ive seen where in emergency cases or something of the sort, the firemen or cops will move a vehicle out of the way to get to a certain area...If it was truely your neighbors, call the cops-the charge is criminal tresspass...a misdemeanor, but enough to teach them a lesson...
