when i trained my dog I just used repetition. After he ate or drank or played i would pick him up and take him to the door. Then I would say to him "Go to the door" and then put his leash on and take him out. After a couple months he would just go sit at the door and thats how we knew he needed to go out and he's had not even 10 accidents when he was a pup. Puppy pads just make the dog think it's okay to pee in that one spot.

I have an 11 week old puppy myself!:) Keep him in 1 room, or an ex pen. Have a sleeping place, and then some newspapers. Since he's been outside, put some newspapers out there and encourage him to use those..it's kind of reverse training I know, but a young dog cannot hold it all day. he'll associate the papers with pottying and outside...and you're one step up that he at least goes outside! The important thing is to keep him in a small space inside, no run of the house.

Well you may have your work cut out for you, but lucky for you the dog is still young enoguh to master this! you may try crate trainning your puppy at night, or putting it in room (like a kitchen or bathroom) and making sure it can't get out. Put pleanty of newspaper or puppy pads(which are awsome!!!) all over the floor. This will protect your floor (also try choosing a room with no carpet for this!!!!) Durring the day take your puupy out every hour for the first few days, and every two hours after that. Always take the puppy out right after he/she eats or drinks. And keep an eye on him! Watch for him/her to "wander" or sniff around to much, this may be a sign that it has to go out! When taking the pup out, each time take it to the door and say "out?" It will learn quickly that the door means "out" and most of all PRAISE!!!!!!! Give lots of praise when it goes out and does it's job in the yard. Make it play time right after or offer a treat ans lots of petting. then after a few mins take him/her back inside. Repeat as nessary! GOOD LUCK

I had the same situation... First of all set a schedule for potty breaks, start with every hour, then every 2 hours etc. take your pup to the same spot to go potty each time and say go potty until he/she goes, then be sure to give lots and lots of praise! They catch on quick. Also you could combine this with crate training, dogs generally will not go where they sleep. Good Luck!
