I can eat spaghetti with any other kind of sauce imaginable - bernaise, Thai, kung po, gravy, chilli, etc. but when I use regular spaghetti sauce, my stomach hurts so bad that I feel like I'm dying. I'll feel sick and in pain for the rest of the day and the pain starts before I even finish eating. I don't think it's the spice becuase spaghetti sauce is bland as can be and I eat nuclear hot wings and vindaloo and everything else spicy and that doesn't do anything to me. And I eat tomatos in salads and on sandwiches and that doesn't do anything to me either. Why does spaghetti sauce make me so sick and giveme so much PAIN? Is it something medical and serious? I can't afford to have a doctor in my life -- should I go to the ER?

Btw: No free clinic where I live. I have also had my gallbladder out 5 years or so ago.

It could be the acidity of the tomatoes. Perhaps there is a preservative in the product that you are allergic to. People manifest allergic reactions in different ways, some have gas, some get hives, some swell up and some experience pain in the abdominal cavity. You really should try to see a doctor. Is there a free clinic in your area? In the mean time, avoid eating spag. sauce!

Any changes in diet can be bad for a dog. I gave my dog a cheap bone called Butcher's Bone & it made my dogs critically ill & they almost died. Tomato sauce often found in spaghetti sauce can be rich in herbs & spices which can upset the dog's stomach. Onions in sauce can be very dangerous to dogs. He'll probably be okay but don't make him eat for a day or so. Let him just relax & ask your parents for pedialyte (unflavored) often found in Wal-Mart pharmacy. If he doesn't eat, give him a few tablespoons of that tomorrow every few hours. Don't force water. The pedialyte helps with something called electrolytes. It makes them healthier, basically. After another day you can either see if he or she will eat but if not, boiled or broiled (not fried) chicken without the bone & some rice would be a bland, healthy diet. Call the vet if you're very concerned. Good luck!

I used to have this problem and it was primarily due to all the acidity in spagetti sauce. My gall bladder was diseased and I would get violently ill when I consumed a large amount of tomato sauce in any form. I am sorry you can't afford a doctor but I would strongly suggest you get to a free clinic or similiar service since a gall bladder is capable of bursting and killing you if you can't get medical assistance. Don't mean to scare you but I would wait too long to have this checked out.

Probably an allergic reaction to something in it. Compare recipes between things you can eat and spaghetti sauce. Determine the differences and try small portions of the items that are different.

try using marinara sauce.it is much milder.also you might need to get checked for an ulcer.but it's probably due to acid in the tomatoes as another writer suggested.

Could be a reaction to one of the ingredients in the sauce. Like the garlic, basil, cloves or it could be a minor ulcer.
