I would not expect any immigrant to leave as America was founded on immigration. I think that as long as any immigrant is living here, paying taxes on earnings and learning English (since its the national language)...they are more than welcome! It would be great for any immigrant to obtain their citizenship, however if you wish to be a permanent resident and retain your birth country's citizenship, thats cool also...but its most imperative that you still work a legitimate job, pay your taxes and speak English. Same as we would do if we went to your country.

I think american people just want the people who immigrate here to be like them. Why is that so bad? If I move to mexico will the mexican government charge all the legal citizens extra money to hire translators so I don't have to learn spanish? and it doesn't even matter if you speak the best english... as long as other people can understand. I live in a small town that has turned into a prodominately spanish town. Almost no one knows english here anymore. The town has also been trashed. Murder rates have gone up, the streets are covered in litter... the spanish influence in this area is definately negative. Don't get so offended when people say illegals! Maybe they're not talking about you so much as they're talking about the type of people I live around.

If you are legal, then no one is trying to take you out of this country. It is the illegal immigrants that we are worrying about. They are coming into this country, taking jobs that pay only a few dollars an hour, which would not be happening if it weren't for the illegal immigrants. I know people that would kill for jobs that payed minimum wage, but why would they give these jobs to the Americans that want more money when they can give them to illegal immigrants who know no better!
If you are an illegal immigrant then you have not legally built a life here, can't support your families, do not own a home, and sure, you've started families, so you can get more food stamps and we have to pay to keep you up!
No one is saying anything about taking legal U.S. immigrants out of here. We want the ones that are illegal, and therefore dangerous, OUT OF HERE!!!! I'm sorry if you do not agree, but this is the way 99 percent of us AMERICANS think!!!!

Answers to your questions:
1. Does any of you really expect us to sell whatever we have and leave? Yes. You came here for money right? Sell it, get the money you want and need, go back to your home and if you still want to, come back LEGALLY.
2. And if you decide to deport us (only a theoretical chance) what do you do with our property? Do you know how many homeless people there are in this country? We make new houses, create shelters, stores, etc. The possibilities are endless.
For another thing, we don't want to deport all immigrants. Only the illegal ones ok?

How long did the illegal immigrants think they could get away with their illegal status.., forever? If they have assimilated into mainstream USA and are still not LEGAL, tough, they should go back to their country and do it the right way. Sell your house, your car, your furniture, take the money you have left, buy a cheap truck and haul your stuff across the border. ( THE money you make off selling your house will go FAR in Mexico, or wherever you're from) If you live further south than Mexico, you will probably need to fly. So, sell all you can and have the rest shipped there. Then fly-away-home, find a job there and come back the legal way or don't come back. Sounds pretty simple and straight forward to me.

Many immigrants pay have SSN #s because they came here legally - after years here visas expire and they remain, although they're not illegal...and they continue to pay taxes and into a system from which they cannot collect. Wages taxes are not the only taxes we collect - most every state here has a sales tax too, which goes to support the local community or the state's infrastructure. Immigrants take the crappy low paying jobs that US kids don't want...maids, janitors, hard manual labor in the farms, and are seriously underpaid...but their funds go to purchase life's necessities, contributing, again to our local taxes - whether the wages are legal or not.
Kids born here to illegal immigrants are US citizens. The kids are entitled to stay...if you marry a US citizen you are able to request citizenship on that basis. One of the proposals out there now, is to allow illegals to show long term residency and tax contribution to support a request for citizenship....that seems like the best idea to me as those long term residents, all people, are more than just a label of legal/illegal - they are people who are required to show they are contributing members of society. The illegals who engage in criminal activity, other then possibly entering this country or staying past their allotted time, are deports upon arrest, and are not eligible for citizenship.
Immigrants come here for a lot more reasons that just money - many people have jobs and education in their countries that exceed what is recognized by their paycheck here. People come here for education, escape political persecution, escape civil war, genocide, in an attempt to live in a free society where men and women are supposed to be treated equally and where people are supposedly free to practice their religious beliefs.

Dear Bunt, like everyone who wants to be an American citizen, you must follow procedures, you have homes, cars, families, but you did not think it was important to follow the law, however, if you have been here seven years, and have children who are American born, you do have options but on a limited time basis, I think the US government when they find illegal immigrants, would seize your property and sell it at auction. Although I am opposed to illegal immigration, if you have been here 20 years and they did not bother to send you home well I would not leave either. Check with a local organization that helps illegal immigrants become American Citizesn.

If you live in any country illegally you could loose everything and it would all be legal. Living in accord with the laws of a country shows good citizenship and good morals. If you are a legal immigrant and are following the laws of the land there would be no grounds to deport you. So what is your problem?

Many legal immigrants dont want the illegals kicked out. They can steal/rob the illegals and the illegals will not call the police for fear of deportation. So don't worry other immigrants will take your stuff whether your here or gone.

"And if you decide to deport us (only a theoretical chance) what do you do with our property?"
The same thing the government does with all other CRIMINALLY reposed houses, auction them off. It does happen, and fairly often too.
Also, don't forget that for the majority of illegal immigrants, houses are not a concern. 99% of the time, you can't buy a house without a loan from the bank. Banks don't give loans to people that don't have a credit history (fact) and they probably don't give them to non-US citizens.
The question should be... can the US afford to deport illegal immigrants? not should we expect you to leave. You won't get the option of staying or leaving on your own terms, you are either allowed to stay or forced to leave.

This isn't about immigrants. Every single person here is an immigrant (yes, even american indians) of somesort.
The issue is about those who are NOT here legally and who use the system without giving anything back. The issue is about those who are illegal, dont want to get told on, so they accept sub par working conditions and subpar wages.
Yes, many immigrants, illegal and not, are ingrained into society, but illegal immigrants knew this day could come, so they should have been prepared, right or wrong. To be clear, this is not a position statement on how I feel about deporting illegal immigrants, but rather a statement of facts.
