Yes, most definately. And if you can, tape the birth. I didn't with my daughter, now they don't allow video in the room and i wish i would've taped it. You don't have to watch it right away but tape it and put it away because years later you will want to see it.

Yes - get the camcorder - you won't regret it. If you're asking whether you should film the birth or not, I'm not sure anyone here could say yes or no, as that really is a personal decision you'll need to make. Keep in mind, that the cameraman may get in the way of the doctors and nurses doing their job, plus - does anyone really enjoy watching this? Yes, the precious few minutes of a childs life are amazing, but I would encourage you to begin tape after the delivery (Just my own opinion). Good luck to you and your family! Time flies - they grow up so fast! Don't miss out by not having the camera to record the memories.

I been video taping my kids since they were babies, they are five and three now. I can't tell you how many times I've watched the old ones.
I archive them to DVD with a recorder so I can share them without too much wear on my camcorder and the tapes.

Definitely.
You can get a nice one for under $600.
All they had when my daughter was born (1988) was the VHS format camera. They didn't have an affordable Hi-8 until a couple years later.
Now I have one of those Mini-Disc cameras that are smaller than most 35mm still cameras. You only get 30 minutes per disc, but the discs are cheap and it is easier to sort through later.

I guarantee you'll want to. Babies go through so many phases (and each of them super cute) during the first few years, you want to see them again once your baby is older. My wife and I watch videos or our daughter's early years every chance we get!
You'll enjoy watching even the most trivial or "boring" activities that your child does. Now I can't guarantee anyone else will enjoy watching your baby sit up for the first time... but the parents/grandparents definitely will.

It's nice having videos of them when they are tiny. They grow up really fast, so if you can financially afford one then sure by all means get a recorder and record away, and take lots of pictures.
