I feed her Innova EVO (which is a high protein diet) but do you think she is still missing more iron or something in her diet? Or is she just weird? hehehe

She's 10 yrs old and has been doing this for a few years now (licking metal objects)

She may be missing something in her diet but I doubt that it is iron. Take her to the vet and find out for sure. She may need vitamin supplements or her food may be too much for her. My dogs could not tolerate high protein food. She deserves to have the best at this age...get her checked out. Good luck!

I had a lab who chewed metal objects. I could not break her of it until I forgot to unplug the fan and she chewed through the cord. Needless to say, that was enough negative reinforcement for my 'not totally clueless dog'. Dogs chew. Yours don't sound more or less weird than any other dogs. Check with your vet if you are concerned.

She could have a dificiancy in something like maybe iron? Take her to the vet and they should be able to tell you. Don't let this go untreated. She may just need a change in food or a suppliment.

Dogs do the strangest things it's true but you may want to have a look at a really good dog advice site like http://www.my-dog.co.uk and see whether you might need to consult a vet.

Take care

My Lab use to love chewing on rocks....and his brother use to chew on tin cans a lot, they just like to chew....actually eating a stick id be careful on....I never let my dog chew on wood too much because I was scared hed chew on wooden things in the house...reinforce his chewing of good things....

Hehe, this could be a sturdy one XD whilst my youngest became in elementary terms a million, i became pretending to pinch off his nostril so i might desire to 'consume' it. I grabbed his nostril and pulled particularly(no longer hurting him or something) and then pulled my hand away with my thumb caught between my index and center finger and confirmed him.. Then his eyes popped extensive open with concern and he grabbed my hand and tried shoving his 'nostril' back on. :P

Please don't let her eat sticks. It is very easy for her to get splinters in her mouth or throat, just like we get them on our hands. She probably needs a vitamin supplement, but it could be she just likes the taste of metal, for whatever reason!
