It's not necessary. The attendants are there to celebrate with you same as if they were a guest. The honor that you are giving when you select them is a way of saying to them how important they are to you, and how much you want them to be involved with one of the most important days of your life. It's a complement to the people involved, and for the bride especially, they can help take some of the stress and responsibility. Planning a wedding is a big job, with a lot of hard work. Hence why wedding planners make big money.

If you are talking about a party, like shower or something, then that's up to you too. It's a good way for each person to individually celebrate the wedding with their own friends, in addition to the big day. It's that "one last chance" to be single and wild before settling down, and have some time as one of the guy/girls. One last him and her before you turn into a them.

It is not necessary, and depending on the state, you may not even need a witness. My best friend got married this past weekend. They had a very small wedding, so they did not have a wedding party. I am getting married the end of October and am having one. It just depends on your preferences. Remember above all else, it is YOUR wedding.

It isn't necessary to have a wedding party. Each persons wedding should be a reflection of their personality and if you don't want a wedding party don't have one. Or compromise only have 2 or 3 VERY close friends/family members be in your wedding party.

Not necessary at all, all that's necessary to get married is whatever is legally required where you live. Everything else is extra, fun and memorable, but definitely extra. Now, it's NICE to have some kind of party, where those people in your life you love and are close to can share in your joy as you and your fiance start your lives together, it's the blending of 2 families, etc., etc., etc.

My wedding was very small and intimate. We didn't have a wedding party. The people who were at the wedding were the important people in my life, that was all I cared about.

You do not have to have a wedding party!

No, you do not need a wedding party.
And in some counties, you don't need witnesses, either. So check with your County Clerk or Probate, or wherever you get your marriage license.

We need 2 witnesses in this county but the one right over from us, doesn't require any. But even if I were to marry in that county I would still need witnesses because of the county I LIVE in.
Why they make it so difficult is beyond me.

No, but you do need 2 witnesses that will sign the license. The wedding party does make better pics tho.

First off.. it is YOUR wedding. You don't have to have anything or anyone that you don't want.
I know of a lot of people who don't have wedding parties, they don't want the hassle.

I think that a good compromise would be to just have a best man and maid of honor. Not too many people to worry about.

Congratulations!

all you need is 2 witness and that can be your wedding party. I know lots of peole who did that. You get 1 pick he gets 1 pick. If anyone asks why you did not pick more Say it is a financial decision. That way you do not have hurt feelings and you and your man get YOUR WEDDING YOUR WAY!!!!!!

You don't need one but like everyone else has said you need a witness. And if you want to get lots of presants and money, DEFINATLY have a party after. My husband and I got $2,000 at our wedding and that is not including gift cards. I think we got $600 in gift cards. And then we got tons more money when we brought all the girfts that we didn't want. So really in the end it totally pays off to have one.
