I'd say avoid Sony. Over the years their most compact cameras have suffered from a lot of problems with poor autofocus, poor picture quality, you name it. Maybe this has finally improved now but I wouldn't take the chance on a new camera if I were you.

By contrast, Canon cameras have had superior image quality for years. Of course the A630 is less thin than the DSC-T30 but you get a bit more zoom, and you'll definitely get better pictures.

Now of course, if you value small size and portability above anything else, and you don't care that much about image quality, then any modern mobile phone will do.

I'm pretty sure the T9 has been replaced with the T10 or perhaps the T30 itself, in any case, I'd go with th Sony if only for the optical stabilization. The SD630 doesn't have it (the SD700 IS does). The optical image stabilizer vastly reduces the amount of blurry pictures you'll get so you get a higher number of usable pics. If you were comparing the T30 and the SD700is, both are great cams and for me, only price would be the deciding factor.
