I don't know but I'd like to know why parent's buy their children cars, it seems to me that the kids who have cars bought for them do not appriciate them and usually the parents wind up giving out gas money and paying for insurance, etc... What ever happened to getting a summer job, babysitting, and all that good stuff and buying a car for yourself?

He is too young to drive a car in the us. Maybe help him after college. If he wants a car before hand then he will have to earn the money him self. Never buy a kid a car.

Don't buy your kids a car, they'll never learn anything if you hand them everything.

If you want them to have a nicer vehicle than they can afford, try a money matching technique (where you will match them the amount that they save for a car) or set up a loan plan with them or somehting.

Help them fix up their first beater car when they are sixteen if they cannot afford repairs, but if they ruin it, it has to be their responsibility. That's what my parents did with me.

Don't ever just hand them a perfect car and say happy birthday, they'll never fully appreciate it and they'll be spoiled brats like my sister.... she's gotten about four cars from my parents (guess they got lazy with the second kid) and wrecked each one, knowing that she'll just get them to buy another one or at least repair the wrecked one for her.

Sad really that they don't realize they aren't helping her learn anything. They think they are helping her financially, but they are really just feeding her depndence.

Have him get a job, save his money and buy his own car. He learns many things that way....the discipline to go to work, the value of a dollar, responsibility, how to save money, budgeting....maybe you can tell him that if he saves a certain amount and puts it towards a car, you will give him money to help him out. I bought my first car and my parents helped out with the last $500 I needed. I know that there are families that are financially able to buy their kids' cars, but what does it actually teach them in the long run? If they want something bad enough, they need to learn that mom & dad will not always be there to fork over the cash to give them what they want.

No one should buy there kid a car. If you are mature enough to drive a car, than you are mature enough to buy it yourself. My daughter bought her car, and she takes good care of it because she had to pay for it and she pays the insurance on it. It has helped her to become a responsible young woman, not a spoiled brat.

Don't buy him a car. Make him drive the family station wagon for a while. Then tell him that you will give him $5-7000 (depending on your budget) to buy him a car if he wants one, or you will just give him the cash and he can invest the money. He will learn more that way and then when he has enough to buy a real car he will appreciate it more.

You should never just give your kid a car, that would just spoil them for good. They would just look for a handout whenever they get a chance.

You should tell him that you'll pay for the downpay or a portion of the total amount, and he'll have to work / save money to get it. This way he'll appreciate the car alot more and take care of it better.

Having a car requires responsiblity. If Your step sun has a job, and a driver's licence, he should be able to buy his own car.
