I've seen a biblical quote that I've been told is interpreted by Christians to consider masterbation a sin. It says something along the lines of "he moved his hand downward." Based on this I believe that the Bible has no problem with it, but some clergy looked for an excuse to demonize it. My view would be that it is acceptable in most cases. (Use common sense. Don't do it in public, if you're under an oath of celibacy, etc.)

You know, it never clearly states its bad in the Bible, but I believe it is a sin.
First of all... premarital sex is a sin, and I think mastrubation gives you the same feelings as sex would... and I believe we are to wait to experience such things until marriage, otherwise premartial sex wouldn't be a sin.
Next, I think it would be viewed as harming yourself. Even though those who do it probably don't feel pain, it is still shedding the lining for girls and such, so that could be viewed in that aspect as a sin.

Who knows for sure, but the Bible does say that we should not lust. If a person has lusted in their heart, they have already dont the act according to the Bible. I don't think that stops many people from masturbating. But then again, i guess you could do it while thinking of your wife, or just do the act and not think of anyone.
But haha good luck with all that !

Yes. What you think with your mind, you have done, and so that is a sin. God despises sexual immorality.
And your body is the body of Christ. Not yours.
And it houses the Holy Ghost..as the temple of God. Do not defile it.

"everyone does it" - then it's not a sin, some say,
by that logic, if everyone's lieing, lieing is not a sin after all.
but lieing is a sin just like masturbation, a forgivable sin.

I don't know about sin. But I do know it's something healthy to do every now and then. Go ahead. You're doing nobody any harm. And don't let any priest spoil your health with his do's and don't's.

Yea that's why there isn't a creature on earth that can go to heaven. Unless God makes an exception for those who lie.

If you don't know that the right spelling is "masturbation", then, yes, it is a sin.
