HOW DO YOU KNOW HOW SHE FEELS, EH?

It could have happened accidently, like even something simple like sharing bathwater and some of his sperm went into the tub and into her vagina.

It could be any number of possibilities. Remember, she could really be in love with this guy. What happened to age is nothing but a number, that it doesn't matter, eh?

So she's a little too young, big deal. Who cares? Not me. She loves him and she'll want the baby to have a dad in his/her life.

Think of the baby, if you aren't at least going to think of your cousin. She is growing up and it's not her fault if the person she is in love with is older than her. You can't expect someone to stop loving the person they love and love someone else instead just because the family don't approve.

You should be there to support her with the baby, and so should the family to.

And those who asked where the parents were? She's 14, not 4. She is old enough to go out on here own. Sure, she made a mistake. Let her learn from it and forget. Move on.

Either completely cease communications with her or help her through this, remember, you could ruin both her and the baby's life. I know a 15 year old who commited suicide because a thing like this happened.

She has no say in this legally, as others said, so the parents will have to consider her feelings, and those of the baby, for her. If you want to ruin 3 lives, go ahead. Do it.

But don't blame anyone but yourselves when you've lost your cousin, and her child, to death.

Yes you can have his sorry a** arrested! Your cousin is young and naive so right now she isn't thinking clearly. Look at the teacher who got pregnant by her 13 year old student, they locked her sorry a** up for 7 years! So something can be done. It doesn't matter whether or not she doesn't want to press charges. She is ONLY 14. She might have engaged in adult acts but she is still a child so an adult needs to step up and press charges. She is carrying his baby, so there is your prof right there. Yeah she might get upset, but we need to stop these sick bastards from preying on our young children! I know I have placed a lot of blame on the 33 year old man, but where was your cousin's parents? They are just as much at fault. If your cousin was an out of control teen, then they should have placed her a** in a rehab or something. But anyways for the sake of our young children LOCK THE BASTARD UP!

Well, if its illegal for a 14 yr old girl to have sex wherever you live, then yeah, you could get him arrested regardless of the fact that she consented.

However, it might not necessarily be the best thing you could do.

I know you and your family must be incensed over this, I know if my 14 yr old sister was sleeping with a 33 yr old man, I'd want to break his neck, but at the same time, you have to look at it from her point of view.

She thinks shes in love with the guy, and now shes pregnant shes going to feel all the more connected to him. If you and the rest of her family go in all guns blazing, trying to separate them, it will only make her cling to him more, especially if she feels her family are against her and he is all shes got...

Yes you can. She has no say in this matter. A simple DNA test is all it takes, but it also depends on where you live. Almost every state considers this statutory rape and here in Texas below the age of 13 it is considered Aggravated. ( with a weapon ) even if there isn't one. This 33 year old is a pedophile. He is sick and should be locked up. The decision is not hers. Where are the parents in this? Why are they allowing him to be with her in the first place? I would call the police imediately and go to the DA office and file charges. The parents, or guardian of the child have to do this.

Yes, call and make a charge on him, she's under age so he can get into alot of trouble and should. A 33 year old man does not belong with a 14 year old little girl. The lady before me is crazy, I sure in the hell would not let my daughter stay with a man when she is still a child. She must be a sick lady!!!! I do agree with the not making her get an abortion, it's her child growing inside of her so I say it's too late to change that.

You sure can!! Statutory rape it is called. Minors are too young to give consent, and it is illegal to touch them. Yes, another member of the family can blow the whistle on this guy. In fact, it may be considered an obligation to report this as child abuse. 14 year old crushes are so powerful to them, and she probably really does feel love for him and for the baby, but she has no idea what it would be like to stay with this guy in this day and age. I do hope that the baby is welcomed as a precious new life, and either adopted by the rest of the family or given to another adoptive family that would love to have a child.
It would be good to try to understand her feelings and her position, and support her in dealing with the situation in a constructive way instead of coming down on her in a way that would get her defensive and possibly drive her away.

here are a couple of links that explain 'statutory rape':

Hi yes you can as she is under the consent age to have sex and he is too old for her and he has commited a crime for having sex with her, so yes but what the hell was she allowed to even be with a 33 year old any way surely someone knew what was going on. Anyways, it may not be as simple, i know its sick and wrong but, i once new this girl i use to go to school with she was 13 when she started seeing this guy in his thirties and she said then she was in love with him and he was in love with her and i know it is weird but they are still together today despite sneaking around with each other. I know she is 14 but so was the girl i knew and even though she is young how do you know that she isnt in love with him and he not in love with her.You cant say what she feels and now the baby is on the way. If she has decided to keep it, you dont want to cause her any stress or
harm. The first thing you can do is without throtelling the guy first, go see him you know who it is and see what the situation is, see if he knows she is pregnant and like i said if she keeps the baby, then he has to take responability of the child and if he is willing to stick by her. If he is a total dick head and says he want nowt to do with her or the child tell the police. Your cousin wont listen to you as she is ademant she is in love. Any ways its up to you and your family what you want to do and what you think is best to do, but it could turn out either way in both situations.

I know violance isnt the answer but if you do see him make sure you rip his private parts from his body, i cant understand the way sickos like his mind work, its disgusting.

I think that he would certainly be charged with illegal sex with a minor. I am not sure how the police would act if your cousin doesn't want to press charges and therefore won't give evidence. Since she is a minor, her parents are her legal guardians and so it would be them who would decide whether or not to press charges, not the minor.

It may or may not be wise to discuss it with the police 'informally'. I think I would take legal advice from a solicitor first.

At 14, she has to learn that she MUST listen to adults! I agree with the answerer above, though, that you should consider all the implications, including the child's feelings about its father in later years.

yes- you can.

first let me say that it is a shame what happened to you're cusin. there are so many creeps out there now-a-days.

second. in the state of delaware (i'm not sure if it is exactly like this where you live, but it should be along the same lines), there is two different age restrictions. if a girl is under 16, by law she can not give consent. however. if the guy is 4 years or under, he can't be arrested for statuatory rape. however in your case. she is under 16 and he is over 4 years older. yes it is statuatory rape. no matter how much she begged or pleaded for it, he shouldn't of done it. it is rape. her consent doesn't even matter. you should go to the police and press charges. but most likely when she goes to the hospital to have the baby, and they say who the father is, they will most likley contact the police. but you should hurry, there is a window where after a certain time elapses...you can't do anything.

Depending on the state you live in, the girl doesn't have to "press" charges. The fact that she is pregnant by a 33 year old guy is enough for the local district attorney to prosecute for at least statutory rape. Talk with law enforcement

Statutory rape is defined as sexual intercourse with a female below the legal age of consent but above the age of a child. In most states the age of consent is 18 and you are no longer considered a child when you reach the age of 14. Even if the person under the age of consent has knowingly, willingly, and with mutual consent, participated in sexual intercourse with an adult, and refuses to cooperate with the state, charges can still be filed against the adult perpetrating the act. There are additional laws and penalties imposed when a person of authority such as a teacher, priest, or member of the community held in high esteem engages in sexual relations with a person (male or female) under the age of majority.
