My wife is a very talented interior decorator. She had decorated several houses and apartments for relatives and friends and had done very well. She would like to become a professional decorator. She is stay home mother. How can she become an interior decorator? We live in Orlando Florida. Where could she study more? How do you land a job on this field?

Thank you

If she feels the need to be further educatated she could look for study at home programs. She could get into one day decorating. There are "seminars" she could go to to learn the techniques. That would be a self owned business. She could ask friends and family if she could take pictures of the work she's done and then using those in her portfolio she could self promote.

Maybe she is a natural.... If so, she can just go into business for herself... Set up a website with before and after pictures... Pass out cards, tell friends and spread the word... Charge a high rate for the service.... Sometimes people credit a company because of the extreme fees they charge - They have to be good... Good Luck

Don't need to go to school if you know what you are doing, Should get bonded or have liability insurance if things go wrong. World out there is waiting to sue . Have a portfolio of work and examples. Start small and Advertise in local paper. Have a unique catchy name for your business and put in Yellow pages. Best of luck and hope this helped.

She has to go to school for it, i don't know where she could study, and mostly you have to start your own business but if your lucky you might find a small design company.
