If a job makes you the man of your family does Burger King count?

Hey Shelia H,

Have it your way! Yes, and a real BIG one at that.

Kidding aside, at least the man is working! It is important for him.

So, when you see him, supersize his ego - tell him it matters.

Does any job make one a man? I suppose that it depends on how one uses the word. If we ignore the gender implications and define man as one who is a true human being, recognizing and accepting responsibility, then I suppose that working is part of becoming a man.
Is working at Burger King somehow shameful? I would say that it isn't an elegant job on the face of it, but it is honest. It is far above the ranks of working as a prostitute or flesh peddler, in my estimation.
I worked at Burger King when I was 16. When I was 18 and went away to college, I hoped never to see the inside of a burger stand again because it was somehow lowlife work, a specialty of someone who had developed no life skills. When I graduated, I had a different idea of what constituted honest work.
I discovered that people's attitudes made the real difference and that there were schmucks in almost every endeavor. These people would never become men. Other people pursued whatever job was given to them in the very highest standard of professionalism. I admire the ability to work against adversity. In my estimation, it is the attitude rather than the job that makes one a human being.

Hold your head up and support your family. You stay at Burger King long enough and you could become a manager and hey they don't make that bad of a salary. As long as you enjoy what you do then do it. Don't let anyone tell you what you do for a living is worthless.
