I am considering changing my Brazilian permanent visa into dual citizenship through my marriage, but I do not want to waive my right to American citizenship.

Is "naturalization" the same as obtaining a dual citizenship?

The US accepts dual citizenship, but Brazil does not. Being naturalized as a Brazilian citizen while you are already a US citizen will not jeopardize your American citizenship unless you became a Brazilian with the INTENT to lose your American citizenship.

As long as your Brazilian citizenship does not require you to voluntarily give up your prior citizenship AND you stated intention is to keep your USA citizenship.
