It would not make the cat sick. It would be a grave sin because the Holy Eucharist is considered by Catholics to be unleavened bread which has been Consecrated by a priest during the sacrament of Holy Communion, and by doing so, changed into the actual Body and Blood of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, and yet still have the appearance and characteristics of the bread. It is a mystery which many are called upon to believe, but which unfortunately is one which only a few can accept. It is an act of great faith. When I was young, I heard stories of people trying to satisfy their curiosity or manifest their hatred of the Eucharist by smuggling it from Communion and piercing it with a pin or a nail. To their amazement (and problably horror) the Eucharist bled, until a priest was summoned to stop it. This might also happen if the Eucharist were fed to a cat, that is if he were to injure or scratch it. But who knows? Jesus would not blame the cat, certainly, but His Sacred Heart would be very hurt if it were done deliberately. It would be no different than sacrificing a Christian to a lion and that is why it would be such a grave sin. I am not trying to convert anybody out there. I am simply trying to get the facts straight. You can believe what I am saying or not. I can.

Well since the cat would now have accepted Jesus and be saved, the computer tracking system in heaven would keep track of his soul and upon the death of the cat the entire system would be thrown into a loop.
It will create long lines of the dearly departed because they cannot be processed, heaven would not be able to send out angels since they could not get back in. In short, until a paper by pass system was created it would be chaos and heaven would be shut down.
OK -- seriously my answer is nothing!

The cat would go to heaven. You probably don't want to do that to a poor cat, because Heaven is filled with dogs.

I think the cat would sniff it, sniff the hand holding it, then turn its back. Then it would begin walking down the aisle, pausing to rub its face on the pews.
If it were lent, it would probably chase some palm fronds.

Okay... if it is a black cat, the cat will burst into flames.
If it is a Persian cat, the cat will reject it in the name of Allah.
A Siamese cat will hiss at you - that's just what they do.
A domestic shorthair will be a bit miffed when he can't have seconds on the wine.

Its only important during the ceremony, since it is symbolic. At any other time it is a cracker, or a necco wafer, or whatever it is actually? Does anyone know for sure what it is?

It wouldn't do anything to the cat, because it has no soul, but it would be a grave sin for the one who gave it.
