My husband is totally addicted to Ebay. He gets on these kicks, sometimes he is obsessed with ordering sports memorabilia, sometimes fishing tackle, sometimes toys for our baby. If anytime I suggest that I want something he is more than happy to get on Ebay and get me what I asked for. My conclusion is he likes the competition of 'outbidding' another person. But it is excessive and somehow is is going to have to stop. I am thinking of taking away his credit card or maybe turning off the internet.
