I work at a fire dept. We had calls recently from a house saying how he had 6 demons in his house that he was fighting off, and that he killed one of them with an axe. When our firefighters got to the house they found that he had smoked a bunch of crack.
Moral of the story: There are no demons, and if there are...axes seem to do fine.

Beliving in demons is like beliving in the Devil. Usually they don't attack openly so most frightening behavior is human based and evilly backed. Sadly most things considered demonic are really actions not sanctioned by the (incert sect here) "church". As we are told that demons have been cast out be it biblical times or now, these instances can be explained as epilepsy or multiple personalities. It really is how you look at it. Since these individuals exsist outside the human realm, it's so easily possible that angels could be mistaken for demons just because of your fear of the unknown.
I think you really have to look at the nature of spirits in general. As there are some you want to invite into your life i.e. the Holy Spirit, there are others you want to keep out, say what overcomes people when they over indluge in alchohol. Honestly, if your personal spirit is weak, it's highly recommended that you stay clear of most outside forces.
When it comes to protection, physical objects are mostly to remind you to stay focused against what you don't want it your life. And as some people idealistically believe that there is a sure fire method of avoidance you're best weapon is always to be a strong person.
I see demons in a two fold situation. As everything in the universe exist as an explination of the Creator. There are some not so pleasent intities that are mostly in existance for personal growth.
What I do, is to set a prescident to all the spirit realm that I am of no personal assistance except for extreemly inportant situations. I direct all newly disembodies spirtis into the light. Then whatever forces are left, I ask what they want and for those that are not around my betterment I thank them for coming, tell them they are not wanted and ask them to leave. So basically, you'll need to weed trough the psychic traffic.
But consider yourself lucky that they are talking to you at all.

There can't be people in the civilized world who seriously believe in demons, can there? And not your own "personal demons" or whatever... like, real actual monsters with glowing eyes and sharp teeth? Then why not leprechauns and unicorns? Doesn't anyone believe in nice cute things? It's always the bad evil things. Darnit, I want unicorns to exist!
"1) Stay away from spiritistic practices and those who do practice them."
Like Jesus?
People, we REALLY need to get over all this "everything that is not what I believe is evil" stuff! COME ON IT'S 2006 AND THIS IS THE MODERN WORLD! SHEEEEEESH! GROW THE EFF UP ALREADY!
Sorry for the yelling but good grief, you would think this was the freaking Salem Witch Trials here. Haven't we seen enough intolerance crap over the centuries? Watch history and LEARN something. Not everyone believes what you do. DEAL!

yes, demons are those spirit creatures (angels) who followed Satan (a former angel himself) in his rebellion against God.
Protection?
1) Stay away from spiritistic practices and those who do practice them. Would you like scriptural proof?
2) Stay close to God. (Again, there are scriptures that go along with this, if you really want to know - send an email along through yahoo, and I will send them back to you through yahoo.
I have decided to just give a short answer and if any are REALLY interested in more of an answer, they can request more by hitting my button and sending the request personally.
I dont think people really take the time to read the answers and look up the proof. I would gladly give the proof out to those who really want to know, even if that meant 10x instead of once.

In reference to devils, demons, and the like...these do not exist as you may imagine...Satan was a religiously contrived being to instill fear as a way of controlling others into their power play, and so the rest follow suit...they are real to those who believe in them, but are not actual entities.
However...there are beings called dark entities...these are people with no conscience for atrocities they inflict on others...they have no morals, ethics, or care for the Godhead at all...these are taken care of by a certain phyla of angels, as well as the Goddess, herself...and they have, after their body dies here, a special place to go to to await their next life to try again, and again, and again.
Knowledge is your greatest protector...it creates awareness of your Self, and your surrounds...I highly suggest getting as much as possible. Listen to your inner voice--that gut feeling, and seek your truths...when you ask to know certain things, be aware of the many ways you can be answered, and when that little soul bell goes off saying "Oh yeah, that makes sense!" Then there's your answer....read, look, listen, watch....soooo much to experience while you're here...and things that don't ring that chime? Just leave them go & simply move on...Good Journey!

The Fundamentalists believe that everyone is posessed by hundreds of demons that cause all of your problems like over-eating, lazyness, cold, flu, etc. etc. So they go and get exorcisms every week at the church.
Ask yourself this: If you were a spiritual being that existed before the world was created, would you spend all your time going into people and making them have the sniffles? Even if you were evil, wouldn't that be sort of idiotic?

Yes there are demons and yes we can be protected...If you believe in God then you must to, believe in demons, because God created the devil, and actually the devil once was an angel of God who was cast or thrown out of heaven. The Bible talks of his origin in Ezekiel and Isaiah, starting at these scriptures and reading the entire stories..eze.28:11 and Isa.14:12 .
God and the devil are the so called leaders of their Kingdoms, God, the Kingdom of light and the devil, the Kingdom of darkness. They both have their servants, Gods servants are angels and the devils servants are deamons. In the spiritual world, these two forces are at war with one another and they fight for the souls of men and women, and the Bible talks about this in ephesians chapter 6. We here on earth can see the manifestations of this war with all the good and bad things which are happening throughout the world. The main reason that peoples souls are being fought over is that thedevil wants to get back at God for being thrown out and the only way he can do this is to keep as many people away from heaven as possible because man was created in the image of God and this is the only way satan can get back at God. But thats another story for another day !
The devil also took one third of the angels with him when he was thrown out of heaven, and these angels began working for Satan and became his deamons...
Of course not everyone is going to agree with me on this point, but I assure you this is the truth !
And the only way we as humans can overcome these deamons is with the power of Jesus Christ. Jesus was given from God himself all power and authority upon the universe after he died on the cross and deamons or the devil has greater power than any man, this is one of the reasons why we need to ask Jesus into our lives !

Yes, there are demons. You rebuke them in Jesus's name. Try reading a book called "Seeing the Unseen", it might help you understand spiritual warfare and such thinga little better.
