No, because atheism is a choice. As infants we have no concept of religion and only form one when exposed to religious acts or events that would create question towards a higher being.

I think we're all born as a blank slate, on to which any form of religion can be imprinted. As we grow, begin to learn and question - our religious state begins to change. Either committing to those original beliefs or altering into something different.

The term atheist by definition is a person who denies or disbelieves the existence of a supreme being or beings. Babies are not capable of denying or disbelieving anything. They are helpless creatures unable to discern breast from a bottle. We are born ignorant and "blind." Our knowledge, attitudes and beliefs are force fed to us by people who began life as we did, ignorant and "blind."

I think the question can be stated as: Is god real or taught?
If we are all born as athiests and then god is taught to us, then does god exist for those who have not been taught?

Does god know about those who don't know about god? should god protect those who don't believe?

this puts an interesting perspective on the abortion question if all unborn and newly born have no sense of god eh?

No. The negativity of this world is at times so strong that it hard to see past it and people give in to it, rather than take the time to see that there is so much more past this world and it's "reality".
