Just thinking here, I was asking about Zeus, and peole stated there is archeological evidence that supports the history in illiad and oddessy. Often times Christians say there is archelogical evidence that backs whats in the Bible.
We know the evidence is clear regarding the FSM, as there is an inverse relationship between the decline of pirates and the rise in global temperatures, since the FSM is mad that his chosen people are being persecuted, as told in the Gospel of the FSM.
Essentially what I am asking in this question is, is, why does the Bible and Christians mock the Romans and Zeus? Since its clear you people are doing to them and their faith what the FSM people are doing to Christianity.
(Serious intellectual question for those who read the details: Is it inevitable that every few hundred years the main religion changes)

The dominant religions rise and fall along with empires. In the past, church and state were closley coupled. That's still true in some parts of the world, but the dominant empire today is secular. The up and coming dominant empire (China) is also secular, so for the forseeable future, religion worldwide will probably continue to see declines in relative terms.
But religions constantly evolve. If a modern evangelical went back in time 300 years, he would be burned at the stake as a heretic.

I don't know, I would have to be immortal to ever find out, and I'm not. So, I can't really say that I care either.
I saw a nice program a few years ago that showed an ancient ship that was found on one of the mountain tops right next to Mt.Sinai and they said it was Noah's ark. Who knows, what it really was, but it seemed convincing at the time.
I hope pirates aren't declineing, I wouldn't want to live in a world without pirates. I'd just walk my own plank. Argh!

I don't mock the Romans and Zeus; however, I don't believe there are any intellectual FSM members because they seem to be so bigoted that they resort to poking fun at someone elses beliefs. They disgust me. Want to change the world Jim Darwin? I can tell you it's not through FSM.

You got me thinking, and I'm confused about the FSM.
Shirley McLain told me through one of her mediums (Who may or may not have been Dionne Warwick in a past life) that the evidence on the existence of the FSM is half-cooked.
I'm finding that really hard to swallow.
And...
Can I worship the FSM if he appears in another form, like
"Acini De Pepe"

Everyone is going to defend their own beliefs as they believe that is the only true path even if there are almost identical similarities in other belief systems. The other belief systems don't have 'their' deity and 'their' deity is the only true one.
Religions grow, change and decline with societal changes. A good hard look at world history will show you that.

When it comes to issues of theology, what people claim to constitute "evidence" for their religion is the same stuff that they would hand-wave away if it was presented as "evidence" for a competing religion.
On Yahoo! message boards (not YA!), there's a guy who is always trying to pin down christian fundamentalists as to what their standard criteria for "evidence" is.
Whenever they provide their criteria, he shows them how applying these to other religions would force them to accept the validity of , say Zeus. Pretty much at that point the fundamentalists hand-waves off the argument and changes the subject.
Having one set of criteria for one religion, but expecting a higher standard for other religions is a blatent form of hypocrisy... and we see it here every day.

There is archaeological evidence for some of the things in the bible because it mentions things that were happening at the time. There is also evidence for some of the things in the DaVinci Code. This does not mean that either of them are true, both are works of fiction.

Heheh, flying spaghetti monster... pastafarians, I hear someone donated like $10,000 so they could build an actual pirate ship and sail around the world teaching the "gospel".
Addendum: heheh, here's the page.
