he doesnt seem to like any of the people im friends with yet he expects me to like and want to hang out with his friends and family. i think he is kinda smothering in this way and only wants me to associate with peolpe he knows. what do you think?

hey, im kinda going throught the same thing, but vice versa from your point of view... more than likely, you two started dating and have no similar friends to make it a mold... here is how more than likely he feels (basically what i feel right now)... more than likely he is not familiar with them, and therefore doesnt' seem to like them b/c he doesn't know them... he probably wants you to hang out with his friends and family b/c he is comfortable around them, and doesn't feel the need to make an inpression...
here is what you do... slowly, introduce a friend or two into his atmosphere... if you do too many at once, he will get overwhelmed, and in turn, not like them even more... trust me, you will do better if you let him take the time to "mold" some friends together....

You need to explain to him that you have your world just like he has his. Just because he is timid around your friends shouldn't force you to stay away from him, because that's his problem and he should correct it instead of running afraid from it.
You should talk to him about this, bring this out openly and discuss how he & you feel about this and try to come to a solution. A good solution would be he trying to correct himself trying to be with your friend or at least let you go hang out.
However, he may not like your friends base on their personality, not necessary just because he doesn't know them. You just have to find out by talking to him and find a common ground.
Most of the problem in relationship can be solve by good communication and respecting each other. Good luck.

I think that he might have some kind of crush or might be attracted to one of your friends and doesn't want to look at them because you might catch him staring.
