someone has put TWO pairs of shoes up over the power/phone line here in my complex. i have repeatedly called and told the office they need to come down and it has been over a month since the first pair has been hung up. who is responsible for getting these shoes off the lines? this isn't a crackhouse and it looks terrible! who do i call since the complex manager isn't doing anything? my son is turning 4 and i am having a party here and don't want people feeling unsafe when they come.

Shoe tossing is the act of throwing a pair of shoes onto telephone wires, powerlines, or other raised wires. A related practice is shoe tossing onto trees or fences. Shoe tossing has been observed in areas of the United States, Canada, Britain[1], Australia, and New Zealand.
Some people have been killed by electrocution while trying to remove shoes from power lines. Utilities have asked the public to call them instead of trying to remove the shoes themselves.
This practice is sometimes viewed as illegal, and punishable under laws pertaining to littering. The shoes can be dangerous when placing extra weight on service lines, and this may be punishable under laws regarding disruption of public services.
Various theories of the meaning of the practice:
* personal artistic expression (ie: "just because")
* to indicate areas where drug dealers operate (also known as 'drug shoes')
* celebration of persons loss of virginity
* celebration of a wedding or honeymoon
* pranks and jokes played against the owner of the shoes
* graduation celebrations
* gang sign, or memorial for slain gang member.
* derived from army practice of throwing boots over wires when leaving a base or post.

First contact the office again in person and explain your whole story that you just wrote. Be sure to explain to them how its making the whole complex look junky... that might make them move because they should want their place to look inviting. As far as getting the shoes down yourself, it depends on how high the line is. If you could be able to reach it safely with a ladder, maybe thats all you have to do? But if that is not the case, you may also be able to contact the city and complain about the complex not taking care of their tenants needs. If they hear from the city government, that might make them move!
Good Luck

I highly doubt that shoes hanging from the power line are going to make your guests feel "unsafe" but just call the power company!

I heard sneakers on a power line are a sign for buyers to know where to buy drugs!
Dont have your party there if you are concerned about what people will think
I would call the phone/power company and let them know. It is their responsibility.

I don't blame you. Please do that as a joke but it looks awful.
If he's the manager, there should be someone over his head, right? Is there an owner of the complex you could speak with? Call the manager and don't identify yourself, just ask very nicely how you would get in touch with the owner.

Those shoes are a sign that there is someone selling drugs near by. It's like an underground code. I remember hearing it in school one day.
**I don't do drugs. Mom of 4.

I study a pair of e book that helps you potty practice in one day. Google it and that i guess you will discover it. additionally, you won't be able to potty practice until eventually the youngster is waiting. My chum says positioned Cheerios interior the bathroom and supply him a decal while he hits the Cheerios along with his urine. i do no longer comprehend the type you get a boy to poop. perhaps attempt utilising textile diapers in case you do no longer already. I heard that helps.

i would either contact anyone above the complex's office...do they have a home office somewhere???
OR
just call the power company. they should be able to send someone out.
if they say "no", then ask them who should be getting them off???
