A god is false if it is a statue or an idol, for example, the idol that Pharoah laid his dead son on. It was their god. It was a false god, and could do nothing. The Egyptians wanted a god that they could see to pray to. They refused to believe in an invisible God. But there is only one living God, of all creation. There are many idol gods. When Moses went up the mountain, the people had made a graven image to pray to. The golden calf. That was an idol too. Allah is also an image, although Muslims are told that it is the real living God of Creation, allah is a moon god, and the holidays are set by the lunar calendar, and the symbols are the moon and a star to solidify this. Mecca, was the place where the ancient people used to pray to idols, and allah was one of them. I believe Mohammed is the prophet who chased the others away, and they only pray to allah now. They circle the temple and kiss a black stone to cleanse them from their sins. They are praying to a false god.
In the bible, anywhere you see a small g god, it is referring to an idol or lesser god. This is idol worship, although misinterpretation of the scriptures is widely to blame. People see god, and they think it means God Almighty. It does not. The bible says to stay away from false gods, and false prophets, as well as idols.

Matthew 24:24

For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

25-Behold, I have told you before.

26-Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

27-For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
