lol. My Chow Chow used to do that all the time - he used to take bones we would give him, jump up on the couch and hide them between the cushions...your dog may eventually tire of it...mine did. lol. It's just their personality.

It's a natural instinct most animals have. Its like they store the food in case of a shortage. It's just a survival aspect of being an animal. I wouldn't worry. My dog does the same thing. I think it's hilarious watching him hide it in the cushions of my sofa then in a day or two digging it out again when he thinks no one is looking.

My dachshund does that too, with the addition of throwing imaginary dirt over his goodies. It's hysterical--he'll put the greenie/cookie/pig ear/bully stick in the corner and systematically use his snout to cover it in "dirt". Then he prances off, all proud of himself even though the goodie is still in plain sight. He seems to do this a lot right after he's eaten--like he's had enough food for now but will save his dessert for later.

My dog does the same thing. And then later in the day she will go find them. We also have a toy box for her and when I get home from shopping or school she has all her toys strewn out on the living room floor.

I raise and breed Shih-Tzu's. Your shih-tzu is probably taking his/her treats and hiding them because of personal issues with fearing someone will take them. Do you have other pets? I have a shih-tzu who does that b/c I have other dogs in the house and it's like boys marking their "territory" it's just about privacy, and territory basically.

she's burying them, saving them for later. I had a dog that would tuck her milk bones inbewteen the sofa cushions. It's just a natural instinct for some dogs

most dogs do this they are hiding their food for later, as they would in real life.. and the soil would protect it but often we find it and remove it as no soil to protect it it smells funny.. so he will keep hiding and keep hiding for ever probably..
