call lawyer......? for what......? lol, it will cost you about 100 times the cost of the tuna to talk to a lawyer to get a refund of about what 2 dollars. why don't you call the customer service number and and ask for a refund...or , if you have the receipt go back to the store where you bought it and get your money back......duh........!!

You are correct to notify the company. I am sure that they would want to know about what you found. I do not believe, however; that it is worth hiring a lawyer and starting a lawsuit over. People have just become too quick to run into court over the most ridiculous things. Why do you think that it takes the court system so long to handle all of the important cases that need to be taken care of? There are more important things to be worrying about. You would be smart to return the opened can to the store you purchased it in, you may want to call them first and speak to the department manager. The store will know how to contact the company, and the company will be able to research when the can was processed and where the cans were shipped too in case they decide to do a recall on that production number. The reason that vets and animal specialists recommend that your not feed you cats tuna is due to the fact that tuna that is used for human consumption is highly salted, and contains a lot of mercury; these are both things that cats can have bad reactions too. Our "wonderful" media has taken off with a bit of research and emblazoned it everywhere, so that "people" just blindly believe it. If there had been something "nasty" in the tuna and you or someone in you family had ingested or attempted to ingest it, then you would be correct in considering calling a lawyer. I am sorry that you are upset, but sometimes things are monitored very well in production plants and things can happen. I have worked in retail sales for years, and have many friends who work in the food industry; and could tell you, and everyone else; about many things that would have you not leaving your home to purchase any product ever again. These are not urban legends, these are things that can happen in industry when you are dealing with the general public working in all kinds of jobs supplying goods to everyone else. Think about some of the questions and answers you see on here on a daily basis? Please call the store and department manager, take the can back and explain what happened. Take a few deep breathes and calm down, it is upsetting; but there are a lot of much worse things going on in the world, there are probably hundreds of thousands of people in the world who would love to have a can of tuna to eat and would have just taken the plastic cap out and ignored it. I see homeless people and poor people, the working poor; who would be thrilled with it. Not that this is "right" in a conventional sense, but it is just a different perspective. Try and have a good day, life is too short for all the stress.

Since tuna is generally canned from the raw fish and cooked in the can, your story implies there was a plastic bottle cap inside the muscle tissue of a tuna-fish, and that it somehow survived the steam-cooking process after canning! That must be some special plastic!

You might want to call a lawyer to defend you in the likely libel suit you may soon face!

Your story makes no practical sense, and shows a lack of knowledge about how canned fish is processed.

Bumblebees lawyers have very deep pockets, I wish you luck!

things happen. I always write a letter when I find something, (not often). I wrote to a cheese company because there was a piece of hard plastic (like the bread wrapper rectangles) in the shredded cheese. They were mystified, but promised to check it out. I got a letter from the company president, they went thru a quality control check. They sent me coupons, and a nice cheese slicer and a fabulous apron with their logo on it. So some companies take you seriously. Writing is better I think than calling. Forget the lawyer.

Chill out. I know it is very upsetting, but sh*t happens. A law suit won't get you anywhere. I found an earth worm in a can of cream corn once. I e-mailed the company, and they sent me free coupons for a few cases..LOL Like would ever buy that brand again. Anyway, just don't buy the product anymore. I can't stand people who sue over such trivial things.

Tuna has become a very poor product in most all brands- I find the Tuna at Save-a-lot, better than any major brand- its tuna, not slush.

Contact a lawyer. Keep calling the company.

First of all, was the cap a winner (i.e., did you get a prize)? Secondly, so what! Throw it out. If you have ever worked in a kitchen you wouldn't be so testy. People can spit and urinate in your food and you would never know it.
