Here is a possible explanation.
If you are on a diet that contains mostly proteins and very few carbohydrates (like the Atkin's diet) then there is a chance your body has entered a state called "ketosis".
Your body requires a certain amount of sugar from carbohydrates to function. Cells run on glucose (a sugar). Without enough glucose, cells will begin to run on other fuels. The byproducts from this are ketones. This can produce a characteristic smell in your urine.
The presense of a very high concentration of ketones in the blood can cause "ketoacidosis" which is a very dangerous condition and is potentiall deadly.
My suggestion is this: Visit your local drug store and ask the pharmacist for ketone test strips. These are usually found with the diabetic supplies. You can use them at home to test your urine for the presense of ketones. If they are present, you should consider increasing your intake of healthy carbohydrates (the more complex ones are better). If you still have a problem with ketones after this, you should see a doctor very soon. Ketones in your urine can also be a sign of uncontrolled diabetes.

This is one of several unpleasant symptoms of high protein diets. All diet systems are useless fads. If any one of the available fashionable diets was of any permanent value then there wouldn't be so many alternatives on the market! Eat less, exercise more, smell better!

there are different foods that can make your urine/poo more smelly...meat is usually making our waste smelly...it's normal but if the extent of your urine changing its COLOR like orange or bloody red, go see the doctor because that is an infection or it might turn into a virus full of bacteria in the bladder / liver...

When you change your diet, the kind of stuff your kidneys are cleansing is different. Therefore your urine can change color and smell. However if it is bright colored or orange looking , or painful to urinate then should see a doctor.

It's normal. More protein in your urine means more ketones which means more smelly. Try to drink lots of water to dilute it as ,much as possible.
