The dead included eight American soldiers, one of the U.S. military's deadliest weekends in months. The USA military is getting bogged down in another Vietnam type war and it looks as if we once again will lose.

The USA will go down in shame once again.

The numbers are usually higher than the government releases so it must be more than 8. And yes USA has entered its 2nd Vietnam thanks to the brainy Bush!

Some battles in World War 2 had eight soldiers killed in a matter of minutes. 2500 soldiers killed in a day or two of battle. This modern warfare has no two standing armies facing each other. Rather one is sniping at the other. Vietnam was a mixture of the two. With resolve, and some intensified offensive actions against these terrorists and rogue militia, it can be turned around positively

My sincerest sympathy goes out to all American , Canadian and all other families who have lost someone in either Iraq or Afghanistan . We are now loosing solders also in Afghanistan. I must be honest. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. As for Afghanistan, there is an excerpt, by Scott Taylor who was held hostage for 3 weeks in Iraq. He is a Canadian war correspondent. We cannot force democracy down the barrel of a gun. Anyway MayGod bless and protect all our troops and all Iraqi & Afghani non-combatants. IT doesn't matter that thousands were killed in WW2 battles, each solder killed devestates a family and we all loose a bit of our humanity. Not to many battles can compare to "Gettysburg" but each life lost was precious. Please do not generalize where the grief of others is concerned.

3222 Americans died in 2001. We have lost, since 2003, a little over 2600 Soldiers. Three years of defending another country and we have yet to reach the number that the terrorists took from us. How are you accounting the tens of thousands that died in Viet Nam with Iraq?

We went in and we did what we did. We won. We now have to stay and rebuild to prevent a terrorist cell from taking over. Before sitting behind your computer spouting off accusations you cannot back up, why don't you look up how many we lost in Korea after we "won" the war. How about how many we lost in Samolia, Bosnia and many other conflicts.

I say what I say as an active duty U.S. Soldier. We have already won the war in Iraq. We only need to maintain and build so that insurgance, which is NOT Iraqi, can be repelled by the Iraqi Army and not ours.

Did you know that those who killed those American soldiers also killed more of their own people, more by several times.

You seem like the wimpy little kid that got in a fight and after the first punch inflicted pain on him, he immediately fled crying to his mommy. Don't invalidate the swift victory over the Iraqi military in a very few short weeks to this pathetic thing going on now. We won the war but didn't win the peace because some of the people simply are not peacable. We have the equivalent of Protestants vs. Catholics in North Ireland--only here they are Sunnis and Shiites. They use a fanatical extremism on both sides to say the others are not only not fit to live, but certainly not fit to be in power. We aren't fighting Saddam's armies, and haven't been for years now, we are trying to keep a lid on a civil war.

If we packed up and left today, who would you blame for the unbridled bloodshed when Sunnis and Shiites go for each other's throats tomorrow? Will you cry for them then? Will you also complain, "Somebody ought to do something?" We are doing something. Grow up, get past that run crying for mommy thing, we need to fight until the others have no more fight in them.

Do you know any war other than Vietnam? A car bomb does not bogged down make. There is no shame to try to give Democracy to another country.

The USA will not go down in shame. Iknow someone that was killed over there and those that are there are glad that that they can do something good for all mankind bringing peace to that area. We just need to find sadam and hopefully that will end things.

As long as our boys and girls have to keep dying for 'King George's' mistakes, there's gonna be lots more Americans dying in Iraq.

ps...the Vietnam remark was WAY out of line.

Why don't you move to a country you're proud of? Do the USA a favor.
