When it comes to fairtrade I am lucky enough to have a couple of good wholefood shops in my city and anything I can buy fairtrade, I do. I also only go to fairtrade cafes in the city as we also have a good couple of these. I do not shop at big chain grocery shops such as ASDA, Tesco's, Sainsbury's, ect ect and I always try to support wholefood shops that seel nice organic and fairtrade supplies.
I live a strict straight edge lifestyle and by supporting fairtrade and organic suppliers I feel a bit better about helping those who get treated better by there suppliers by dealing in fairtrade...

Yes. I'm not really sure how much difference it makes but if I am going to buy coffee, chocolate, flowers and there is a choice I buy the fair trade stuff.
As a textile artist I'd like to buy African fabrics knowing that the money would go mostly to the producer but haven't found any fair trade fabric yet.

Fair Trade Coffee is fine, don't know about Tea because I just don't drink Tea!
Fair Trade Chocolate Bar ("Devine") really is Devine.
I think Fair Trade also make things like Mints and Dried Fruit and things which are also fine.
So yeah I buy it when I can and it's nice to know that the farmers and growers are getting paid properly and stuff.
Nice question.
:-)

I have recently started to try and buy "Fair Trade";however in N.Ireland I find the products hard to source and as someone else has already said I don't think the quality is as good either.
However hopefully the more of us who ask for the Fair Trade products the better the quality and choice will become and the better off the farmers and producers will be;we can but try to make this world a better place for everyone !

I would love to but...............
Nescafe have a 'fair trade coffee - it has no aroma or taste. It says on the packet that by buying this product we are helping............
Why aren't all the suppliers trading fairly? We pay enough out - surely they should be putting something back in!
And, how come, despite the fact that they make it a rather less than perfect product they charge so much more!
Sceptical, yes I am!
Don't you think that the producers should get a fair return for all of their products rather than just the ones that are marked up as 'Fair Trade?'

not all Fairtade products are of African origin but all are high uality. The range of teas and hot drinks (clipper, tead direct) are highiest calibre products, many are also organic. - I try to buy them as often as possible.
there are also products like chocolate, fruit bars and bakes that are available at some cafes and vending machines (as was at my university) - I buy these much less often now

We bought wine today, but why not fair trade from other countries, why not buy from farmers in this country. We try to buy fresh from farmers, and fair trade when ever we can.

Yup. I try to buy as many as I can, given the limitations of Tescos. I just feel that I'm doing my bit and they are every bit as good as unfair trade ones.
