She's done it all my life, but I'm 24, that's part of the reason I'm moving out. I work 3 jobs, I'm out most of the day, and I really getting home only to find my bank statements open. I hate finding stuff from my drawers elsewhere. I hate finding any piece of paper I had on my desk opened and then put elsewhere.
I'm moving out anyway, but still I'd like to know, is there anything to stop her? I've confronted her, and she feels she's in all right to do it.

Move out, tell her to stop getting in your business, and don't give her a key to your new apartment.

There probably isn't any way to stop her from doing it. If she feels she has the right to invade your privacy she will continue to do so. I don't know the exact conversation you had with her, but I would explain to her that you find her blatant disregard for your privacy disrespectful and unacceptable and that if her behavior doesn't change then yours will and just leave it at that. I think she doesn't know what's going on with you so she feels the need to snoop to find out who her child is and what you are doing Perhaps, she doesn't feel connected to you anymore as an adult. I highly doubt that she is going to change, but sitting her down for a serious conversation and telling her how her actions make you feel is probably the best move. All this considered, however, that shouldn't be the reason you are moving out. You should be moving out because you sound like a 24 year old adult who can support yourself, who doesn't need to live at home and should be looking forward to starting an interesting and rewarding life as an independent individual. Visit your mom often and don't forget to write. Good luck.

Get a po box and have your mail sent there until you move. If she feels it's her right then she probally doesn't care that it's actually against the law for her to open your mail not to mention her lack of respect, privacy and trust for you and your private matters.

If you're paying rent, you are considered a tenet and she the landlord. You can take her to court and press a civil suit against her in landlord/tenet court. Landlord/tenet violations and/or requirements are pretty much the same in each state. Again, I am assuming.
If that doesn't float your boat, you can indeed get a P.O. Box. They aren't all that expensive.

Are you giving her any money for you staying there. Because if your not she probably is trying to find out what your doing with your money
Also I think as long as your living with her under her roof she has the right if your not paying rent.

Lock it up. All of your important things like that should be locked up. Identity theft is it right now.
And no, it is not her right. I will assume you pay for your share of the bills and food.
Best advice, as I am sure you will get, move out.

If you are living under your mom's roof, she has every right to know what you are doing. In her mind, she is still responsible for your actions.
She could be doing this so you WILL move out. Another reason...have you done something to make her not trust you? Kids rely on their parents more and more...and stay at home longer. As long as you are under her roof, you can't do anything to make her stop.

Dude, you can't get out of that house fast enough. In the meantime, think about getting a strong box (in case of "fire") to put those things in.
Good luck.
