selfishness- they let their own dislike of the father interfere with their child's need to have a father

I have supported financially and encouraged my two children for over 11 years. there has been none nor is there any record of threat to their mother or to them. All I wanted to do is spend time with my kids. The mother has violated court ordered visitation from day one and there has been very little or no enforcement. After more than 11 years I am spooked by the whole charade and the children (23 and 17) cant stand me and or have no desire for their father. There what do you think of this all you who feel that there are equal rights in America.

my opinion is from a childs side of the situation. you are only hurting your child. children need both parents to be stable and if you want to try to parent your child on your own and get no help and do everything your way, most likely it isnt going to turn out good. if it is because the father doesnt pay child support then take him to court. if it is because he is a drug addict or doesnt know how to behave around children or babies then make sure you dont leave your child alone with him. if you dont like his behavior and your trying to protect your child then you need to go through the court system because really its his child too.

i have been struggling with the father of my children since i got pregnant with the first. i have a 4yr old and a 4month old by him and every day i fight with myself for a reason to let him see his kids. for him they are an inconvenience and a money burden. he spend next to no time on his baby daughter, but he plays with his son all the time when he comes over (at his convenience). every day our son asks if daddy is coming over to play and i just say, i don't know, i will call him. of course he doesn't answer the phone, he's too busy getting high with his 30something, almost 40 year old friend who has never moved out of mommy's basement. so see it isn't selfish reasons why we keep them from our children. the only respenct i have left for my children's father is that he pays his child support. our daughter doesn't even know him and cries when he holds her and i leave the room. he has NO patience with her when she is upset and starts yelling at me for it. my kids don't need that around them really.

IF THEY ARE OLD ENOUGH LET THEM DECIDE, IF NOT GO WITH YOUR HEART, A MOTHER'S HEART IS USUALLY RIGHT. GOOD LUCK! i have been struggling with this same thing for 10 yrs. now my kids are old enough to decide on their own. my oldest does not go hardly at all and my youngest maybe once a month. their dad is selfish and only wants them when it is convienent. hope it works out better for you.your child deserves a loving father, you'll know whats right .

Yes because he has a drug problem and needs help!! He spends all his money on drugs and booze and wouldn't be able to support the child anyway. My child is better off with no father than with one who is a waste.

Sometimes it is a "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" thing. Other times it is because it is in the best interest of the children for their mental, emotional and/or physical safety.
