actually year round schools go just as much as non year round... the only difference is that the get more breaks and school is smeared throughout the whole year... i think a year round schooling system would be alot better... alot of children forget things over the summer making the first month or two of school being review... making it year round.. they wouldnt have to review therefore, would be able to teach alot more

I do think the education system is failing our children, but I don't think more time in the classroom would be the answer. We need better qualified teachers and higher standards. I remember in high school we rarely did anything because the teachers didn't really care; and when the teachers don't care and don't enforce anything, then the students are getting nothing out of school.

Do you feel that YOU would have benefitted from attending school 12 months out of the year? Kids learn in the classroom but they also learn social skills while playing. I think our school year is fine. We are failing our kids with the federal No Child Left Behind program. Teachers are passing kids who shouldn't be passing simply so they "wont be left behind", but in reality if the child is simply passed along, he or she is not learning and IS being left behind. There has to be a better way to ensure that ALL students WILL learn!

I home school mine now. I like the all year education. I think the all year is 6 weeks in and 3 weeks out. So the kids have a rest but not 12 weeks to forget things.

No way, it's year round where I live and it sucks!! I run an city after school program, the kids hate it!! And it's hard on the parents getting care for thier children during all the other breaks (and hard on me getting staff because they all go to college which wont ever have two weeks off in october)

I wish more timein the classroom was the solution. Somehow I doubt it. Quality teaching, good books, students ready to learn, enough teachers, smaller classrooms, less social problems, I think the list of issues can go on and on....

Students lose too much over the summer. They should go year round with mini vacations. In the real world you never get a whole summers off anyway. Why train them to think you do?

Actually its the parents and the schools failing. Making school the school term a year long wont help. Theres no discipline anymore anywhere. When I got in trouble as a kid, I got in "more trouble" meaning punishment for it. Now theres "help" for when your kids act like idiots.....so they think the more I screw up the more help I will get lol.

i think that school year-round would be good because you get a fuller eduacation because you dont have time to forget anything and your summer vacation is spread out over a longer period of time so it seems like you get more time off. but it is nice having the long summer for all the fun stuff and school yar-round would be crappy to a lot of people. i hope this answers your wonderings!

Based on the posters on this site -- their inability to spell or form complete and proper sentences, their inability to solve simple math problems, etc -- going to school year round is a great idea.
